Ain't Nobody Here

We're all planning walk in runs! Let's share!

Recommended Posts

woohoo we've been stickyfied!

I cleaned the WIR again yesterday but this time sprinkled Stalosan and almost broke my finger getting into the tub :lol: the lids on so tight! ... little health warning for you all..

I am pretty sure my run is complete except any extra hentertainment I add in now. As hubby is a carpenter he now wants to add them one of his wooden tressles  so I think they will have one of those later. (maybe a little tool set and carpenter belt each as well )

I am pleased hubby had chance to pave the bit in front of the door though, as my garden is becoming more bog like every day!

I think I'm looking at (roughly) 2.5 x 2 m for mine

Me too :D . Did I mention I'm getting a WIR :whistle::think: ?

I've ordered a glass clear tarpaulin and some extra eyelets - well, I've got to keep myself occupied somehow and ironing doesn't quite cut it :? .

Ironing? Not unless I am forced at gun point

Thanks for the Tarp link :D :D Will have a good look later :D

I've been told 2nd week in April for my WIR - just after Easter. I would really like it the week before so I could build it Easter weekend as I don't have much time the following week to build it (or the space to store it for long ). I'll keep everything crossed :pray:

I'm really sorry but I'm having mine done in the first week in April :lol:

Poor Tony must be exhausted by all of us Omleteers :D

Well technically the first week of April is the 1st to the 7th :lol: ......the second week is 8th to 15th and I would do little (well OK big big) dances of joy if my run could arrive on the 9th :D :D :D

Just off to email Tony in a mo as I think I do want an eglu table....but I need one a little bit smaller  Poor Tony......all us lot and our indecisions :? and excitement :dance:not to mention lack of patience he's going to need a long holiday or at least some cake :D:D

woohoo we've been stickyfied!

and it didn't even hurt :lol:

doesn't it just......the air around here can turn almost postively blue sometimes when I'm trying to fight my way into the tub :evil:

(maybe a little tool set and carpenter belt each as well )

I'm sure they would appreciate it ........just imagine what they could get up to when we weren't looking :lol::lol:

I nearly hyperventilated then  ...I couldn't find the thread :o ...where was it  .... up & down the page THREE times.......then I realised it's been stickified :dance::clap:

Thanks Mods, much easier to find now

Give us a call Pam if you need any help to hold panels whilst you bang nails/screw screws in etc.

And I'm glad it's not just me who has problems with the Stalosan bucket...I've lost count of the number of nails I've lost - and they aren't that long to start with :anxious:

Thanks for the offer Sha :D :D ......at the moment the plan is to put to use the 6ft plus 17 year olds who clutter up my lounge frequently and pay them in cake and other homemade food :D :D :D

You'll have to pop over for a cuppa and see it when it's all built :D

Right.....progress report on my WIR.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!!!

I have dug four holes for the posts and laid three more paving slabs!

Is that it!? I hear you all shout. She`s been out there for four hours plus!!!!

Well the holes were problematic as the ground is filled with conifer roots and rubble. Each hole had to be 9 inches plus sqaure and 14inches deep!!! FIL is insistant on the hole size hence the three hours digging! the posts will be cemented in.

The paving slabs are massive 45cm x 60cm and 2inches thick! Really heavy!!!!!

I think i will be taking the under cube run sections off the cube and returning to Omlet. I was going to incorporate them into the WIR so chooks could use under the cube but I will need to lay another row of slabs to accomodate the skirt and it is just not worth the back ache!

Wow, that's impressive  . Well done  . Aren't we getting a photo slideshow of your progress :? ?

I haven't phoned Tony (yet!). Although, I'm kicking myself, I could have phoned him to ask about what treatment the wood needs (and dropped the question of when my run will be ready into the conversation  ) but sadly I've got that information from another thread :( . Although Tony doesn't know that :twisted::lol: .

you have been busy! hows the back?? I hate digging holes when there are roots going through!

I am off to have a nice HOT shower to soothe my aching muscles.

The holes were a nightmare and to be honest the last one isn't as deep as it should be :anxious: but I was hitting house bricks with my spade and it was making my hole body vibrate!

I really want to go back outside and carry on but there is nothing i can do until FIL goes to B&Q and purchases another post. (he cut one to use as cube door frame by mistake  )

If there was a smiley that patted me on the back this post would be covered in them! I can`t believe I have laid slabs and they are level and everything! :D

If you want the pics then you can have them :D ........they have been taken but i didn`t think holes were that interesting to you all.

Ooh, I feel all important now that we've been stickified :D:dance: . Well, it is a very important thread, this :lol: .

Stickified???? i am stupified!!!! I take it the Tony in question is Tony Morris from aviaries for you? I just got an estimate only to realise it would be too small and i would need a much larger one arrgh :wall:

not interesting?????????:shock::shock: we live for info like this

I need to get a life...seriously..

OK Cookie, especially for you......

I laid the row of three :D Cement and sand mix. They are level too :D

Hole 1 - the easiest of the holes

090309002.jpg

The mini slab in the bottom will have the post sat on top. This is to prolong the life of the wood.

Hole 2 - not too bad, a few little roots which I chopped with my spade

090309003.jpg

Hole 3 - this one was a **opps word removed*****!!!!! Lots of roots and big stones. The hole is slightly smaller and will have a left over block paver in it to stand the post on.

090309005.jpg

Hole 4 - NIGHTMARE HOLE!!!! The brick in the bottom of that one is well and truly buries in clay. The post will stand on the brick cos I am not digging anymore!!!!

Well done Palmer07 - you've made me feel tired just reading about it. Hope the bath works :D

We definitely need photos of everything going on. When I've actually started doing something towards the run I'm going to keep a photo diary. Where the cube/run is now originally started off as the children's playhouse, that came down and the cube went there. Now it and the greenhouse will be incorporated together for the WIR. Its so exciting

OH is even running the bath for me! He is very proud of my slab laying or is it just that he has realised he won`t have to do it now??

I am making a chicken s"Ooops, word censored!"book (too much time on my hands?) and will have a few pages dedicated to WIR progress :D

Thanks Cookie, I think I need another row for the cube but not sure until the front frame goes in. This should happen Wednesday. If I didn`t have to work tomorrow I would be out there laying MORE! I quite enjoyed it :D Reminded me of when I worked on the farm rather than in an office.

you should of told me, I could have found you loads to do in my garden :lol:

:D I will bring my saw!!!!

I have loads to do in my garden too. It looks like a construction site with chickens! There are slabs and wood on the patio, a wheelbarrow abandoned on the lawn. Gordon is just standing there not helping at ALL!

Gin and OSH helped today! They made sure there were no worms left in the soil where the new slabs went! I was slightly delayed as I was picking out the worms for them

 hubby gets sidetracked and runs over to them with worms as well! and he always says.. 'look how quick she ate that!!' like it's some surpirse.. bless him.

I dont do worms if I can help it... but I do everything else for them

I think that's the big thing with building WIR's the garden ends up looking trashes for a while after!.. well mine did, we are semi getting it in order now, but the grass is like a big in places, I skidded a few times trying to catch the little blighters (new girls) to go back in the run earlier!

Good work Em, get the Deep Heat out! Could you not use the bits of run from under the cube to hang the glugs and grubs from in the new WIR?

I am glad we have become stickified however I can see a new thread coming on (like the Chicken Run Inspiration one) with a note from a mod that says - 'we have cut out all the chit chat and here are the actual WIR bits'
