poachedegg
1. I am 40 and I’m really not bothered 2. I’m left handed 3. I’m colour blind which apparently is very unusual in females 4. I met my OH on holiday in Gran Canaria (he’s from Reading!) and we’ve now been married over 16 yrs. 5. I don’t drink tea or coffee 6. My favourite all time record is Jocelyn Brown’s ‘Somebody else’s guy’ and HAS to be played extremely loud! 7. Because we dislike the darkness of winter, when the clocks go back, we get dressed up in summer clothes and have a BBQ/Beach party! 8. Since birth I have lived in 9 homes. 9. I didn’t go abroad until I was 16. 10. I am Convent School educated and am a practising Catholic. 11. I really dislike negative people/attitudes. 12. My favourite fruits are bananas and grapes. 13. This time last year we had no pets, we now have 8 chickens, 2 dogs and 2 guineas! 14. I enjoy cooking most things from scratch. 15. Passed driving test 1st time @ 18, don’t enjoy it and am the world’s worst parker! 16. I don’t like pork 17. I am obsessive with how things get hung on the washing line – on the inside socks, then pants, boxers, followed by vests, tops, trousers, skirts and then towels/bedding.....IN THAT ORDER! 18. My first concert was Kajagoogoo at the Apollo Manchester! 19. I would love about 3 acres so I could grow what I want and keep some more chickens, maybe sheep and pigs! 20. Bad manners annoy me. 21. My only tipple is Southern Comfort and Lemonade in a long glass with ice and lemon. 22. I am pretty much self taught (with a little help from OH!) on the PC. 23. I have never changed a plug! 24. I like to be on time for things.........unlike my darling OH 25. I really didn't think I would be able to think of 25 things about me! jlo
3. I’m colour blind which apparently is very unusual in females ! Me too. I remember at school being shown those dotty cicrcles and wondering what the heck I was supposed to be looking at. The lady got really cross with me and said that I had to be able to see them as I was a girl!

The lady got really cross with me and said that I had to be able to see them as I was a girl! I was told at the time only 6% of people who are colour blind are female - don't know about now. I was sent to a specialist and told I couldn't be a pilot, electrician or printer.....shame really! I was also told that as women are the carriers, if I had boys they would be colour blind too - I have 2 and they're not.
Geoid
are the carriers, if I had boys they would be colour blind too - I have 2 and they're not. There is a 1/4 chance of your boys having colour blindness, they obviously know nothing about gentics.

Was this a follow on from the childrens TV presenter who isn't interested in wearing a prosthetic arm? - she was on BBC Breakfast. Sorry - off topic
Ana's flock
[quote name='"Helly Welly" 19. I've always wanted to have a plaster cast. She is obviously living in the dark ages. That is terrible - how on earth can they be so blinkered and biased?!!! As lesley says, it is a brilliant opportunity to educate her grandchildren, make them more aware and tolerant. I bet your blood was boiling! chickencam
My blood was well and truly boiled by the views on the girl from CBeebies, she is lovely, children need to see as many differences in people as possible so that can grow up with open minds. Did anyone see the woman from the campaign for real education on Breakfast this morning? She had and affected elocution voice and very biggoted views on same sex families and the suitability of introducing this topic to children at primary school. Sorry off topic but really the blinkered views of some people
Egluntyne
The BBC have recently received a well deserved slap for sidelining political commentator, Gary O'Donoghue, who happens to be blind, to the radio and backroom stuff because of his disability, so if they respond to the critics of this girl they will be making a massive mistake and probably breaking the law. It is hard to believe that in this day and age people still hold these views.

Olly
well there you go - I had no idea Garry O'Donohue was blind! Hear him regularly on R4. Radio is a lot less prejudiced than TV, it seems ...
The Dogmother
Children never have a problem, it's always the adults. You are soo right Helly; a friend of mine is disabled and often sees people steering their children away or pointing. One child (bless him) once came up to him and asked why he had 'funny legs'; E sat them beside him and told them the story..... such a shame that his parents felt too inhibited or embarrassed to make friends too. Snowy
I hadn't realised there was a furore about Kerry (the CBeebies presenter). She's only been on a week or so, but what a great role model she is! I have to honestly admit I did a double take when I first saw her, and sometimes it does seem odd watching her because I keep expecting her hand to be there and it isn't! But I think that is great - the boys have spotted it and asked the question and been answered, and now she is just Kerry - absolutely no different to anyone else. And I am getting used to seeing her as well. Sometimes desensitisation is a good thing!
Paola
25 I'm not going to be hounded away from the forum by a petty minded , and am back for good. I feel SOOOO much better now! Soooooooooooo pleased to hear that Shona x
