I Miss Woolworths!

Recommended Posts

I miss Woolies as well :D

I have spent weeks trying to find a plain everyday toast rack ...... no where on the high street had one and I know I could have bought one in Woolies :D :D

No where to buy last minute children's presents, card and wrap, all in place at a reasonable price :(

And no pick and mix.....when only pick and mix will do :D

I miss Woolies too, it's horrible walking past their huge empty shop when I'm in town.

I can no longer play the game of trying to fit as many sweets into a cup before the lid won't fit...Sarah and I were very good at that-she managed to get about 1/2 lb of sweets in there!

I agree seeing the large empty store leave such a sad gap in the High Street. Our local old fashioned toy shop has also closed so I really miss being able to grab a quick and well priced children's gift. Who want to go through the trauma that is Toy r Us. I love the description of cramming as many sweets as possible in the pick and mix cup, it made me laugh out loud  I do that with the olives at Waitrose.

I miss it too - I miss the pick and mix sweets!:D

me too

They were so much cheaper than the cinema, so me and friendees would bu them there then go to the cinema

It's also hard to find places to bag pack, when we were going to switzerland with guides we were bag packing to raise money and woolies would always let us in :D

And it was always easy to pop in for something that you needed but was cheap :)

The woolies in Chester is being replaced with a Primark. I'm happy and a little sad at this

I am turning into a grumpy old woman; I need a bin for daughters bedroom (other one got crushed while she was wrestling with her brother..that's my girl!) - can't find one for love nor money. Couldn't get one in Sainsbos and Homebase has silly wicker ones or kitchen bins. Wicker is no good for kids, all the apple cores they throw in will be revolting after sitting in a wicker bin. Woolies would know that and would have had cheap bog standard bins. I may have to brave Tescos - not my fav place :x

Wilkinsons.

I would have said Ikea but it would take you hours + you'd come out with loads more than just a bin

Try Oxfam or other charity shop. If you don't see one ask them to keep an eye out for one for you.

I don't want to get everyones hopes up, but I read on sky news in the week that some of the old bosses of woolies are trying to raise the money to buy up the empty stores and are going to try again, mostly thanks to the success of wellworths. I really hope they do as in this financial climate the chances of filling the large empty shop in our town are zero. Wilkinsons and poundstretcher are ok for household basics, but in our town there is nowhere else to get kids toys, clothes or dressing up type stuff so I really miss it.
