Olly
I always feel like that too, Egluntine! Nothing special planned here - gardening/ironing. I should be out there - someone two doors down started mowing at 9.30 so I won't be the only one making a noise!

Guest
Anyone else see the bit on Stonehenge on the telly? There was this guy going on about the solstice - and how anyone who made the effort to go there was making a spiritual statement and would be blessed for the coming year etc etc........ Then they panned across the field to show you all the "Ooops, word censored!" and rubbish that the 30,000 "spiritual ones" had left behind !!! It was disgusting - you wouldn'r visit a cathedral and dump that amount of rubbish, so if Stonehenge is alledgedly so important to them why would you dump it there! I just don't get it! Busybird
DS2 was born, at home, as the sun came up on 21st June 2000 So I spent yesterday entertaining 8 hyper excited 8 and 9 year old boys in our garden Thank goodness the rain held off. OH tried reminding the kids it was Father's Day but we had all forgotten Luckily he is the one who moans about these 'events' being inventions of the card industry so couldn't complain (very much)
Seagazer
Its a day of rememberance for us as OH's father died on this day 19 years ago so its full of memories. OH and I had a weekend away in London this weekend and yesterday morning I asked what he wanted to do on our last day and he said he just wanted to see his children so we came home early. My mum cooked dinner and DD came home from Nottingham, ES was here with his girlfriend and we all sat and chatted and had a lovely dinner, really special. chooklady
I hate to be boring but the 21st of June is summer solstice (when the druids selebrate) and June the 24th is Midsummer's Day, which is about right recently as our summers only seem to last a week!! Louise I don't think those to who the event is special would leave lots of rubbish. Lots of my friends went and they said the atmosphere was quite tense as there were some 'townies' there getting drunk. Not what the event is about. I think its the same with anything like this. The few spoil it for the rest

Hi Chooklady, I don't understand? What is the difference between Summer Solstice and midsummer day? I thought the solstice was when the day length was longest. So what does that make midsummer day? Is the "longest day" Wednesday this week then? (I know all days are 24 hours, but you know what I mean!) I'm going to see Take That on Wednesday!! Can't wait!
