legend21
Just a question because I sit waiting for a reply but you seem to answer by the dozens to others, are some questions to off limits or stupid or is it a friends thing and we answer to friends even if the question seems obvious
Redwing
hmmm no, I don't think there are (many) off limit questions and of course there arent any stupid questions I think sometimes its easier to rattle of a reply to some questions and not others, if you are skipping through the forum you tend to think you will come back to questions needing a detailed reply or think someone else will have more time to answer - the trouble is if they are all thinking the same the poster tends to get few replies The forum is so busy sometimes that questions do fall down the cracks, we have all had them, even long term posters I must admit to not answering some questions if there is already a very similar one on the same page with replies on already I think people look out for posts from 'friends' if its a funny gossipy thread or one where progress is happening and people look for updates however I don't think anyone would make a deliberate action to ignore a thread asking for help or information as I like to think that everyone should feel encouraged and emboldened to ask and wont be made to feel silly or excluded I hope that answers that questiion for you and reassures you
Plum
Sorry not to have replied to you. I reply to ones that come to me as emails so don't check other posts but sometimes I do and feel really bad for people who haven't had an answer. I know I would worry if no-one answers mine. Trouble is that I worry that by answering just because they have no reply, someone who does know the answer will not reply thinking they have had a reply if you know what I mean. Stopping rambling now and off to search for your posts.
Ness3103
i'm bit of a newbie so i don't always feel i should reply to some things. i also have a really rubbish comp which means it takes at least 10 minutes for me to reply to things, and thats if i don't get kicked off the internet
Egluntyne
If the question is one to which I haven't a clue about, I don't reply, as I don't feel that a 'dunno, sorry' type answer is very useful. If I can help......I will, irrespective of whether the poster is a 'forum friend' or not. If the question is 'off limits', a mod will contact you and there is no such thing as a stupid question......we were all beginners once. Sometimes the question gets posted in the wrong forum and might be missed because of it. To which question are you referring?
Lesley
I think Redwing and Egluntine have covered it all really, I can't think that anyone would deliberately ignore a question.
Ms Tilytinkle
Hello Legend21 Well, I'm a 'frequent layer' occasionally post questions which some of which receive no answers to . .. but then some do. Rightly or wrongly I just assume either peeps don't know the specific answer to the posting or the posting gets missed. For instance, its sooo easily done - I now allow myself 10 mins or so on the forum (it can become addictive) I read whatever post is infront of me & answer if I can (then I check the "my postings' bit in user control panel, just incase someone has replied to me & maybe should receive a response) then its back to work! So I must miss hundreds of postings. This morning yours was the first posting ... a much easier one to answer then many of the chicken ones Hence the reply. Maybe there are friendships established on the site, would be easy as ' chicken people seem to be the most friendly people' but even the times I'm online, I haven't noticed it to be 'clicky' or rather should that be 'clucky' tee hee . I've always found the forum to be friendly, welcoming, fair & respectful. Please don't feel as if its selective, I'm sure it isn't but hey thats only my observations & how I feel . .but then I do tend to live on a different planet! No seriously think there'll be a very simple explanation the group is wonderful. So please hang on in there, post again if necessary, don't take no reply for an answer if you're desperate someone will be along at some time, please definitely don't take any of the non replies personally - I think this virtual rabble, ( no insult meant this happy flock of chicks .. & cockerels - we're all too kind & nice for that nonsense Soon, if you post early or late - you'll too dread seeing my rambling reply to yours tee heee. Hope this helps alleviate any doubts Ms Tillysreadonepost-thisone-andnowofflineforbreakie,mmmsoftboiledegg withtoastandmochacoffee
Plum
Just another thought. If the first reply is very good then I pass because I would have nothing to add. I think if a request is for facts it will get less answers than if it is for support and emotion is involved, then people on the forum and very ready to give what is needed You will have me thinking about this all day now. stoice
All as said above really. Somehow I always tend to be a thread killer!!!
Chucky Mama
I will answer anyone regardless of who they are if I feel that I can contribute something useful that hasn't already been covered. I don't have any 'friends' on the forum.

stoice
I don't think I've seen a post yet that didn't have a reply Me either. I think sometimes if the posted thread is in a less popular section it may take people longer to spot it. I'm usually mooching around the nesting box, chickens, Eglus, cubes or runs or self sufficient sections but then have a nose into the other sections eventually. If I know the answer or have a constructive point to add I'll post something. If someone sums it all up in one answer I usually leave it. Cooks
I try to answert if I can, but if I feel I dont have the expierieence to answer I wont. I also have less and less time on here (new girls to match and all that) so come back in spurts so I may miss things. If your waiting for an answer and it hasn't been answered I am sorry for that, it cant be a nice feeling, but I can assure you it wont be intentional. Chucky Mama
It may depend where you are posting. I have a thread in the egg section that has yet to receive a reply. It may be a rubbish thread that no one can contribute to but it does leave one feeling slightly unloved - joke, I don't really feel like that Edited July 21, 2009 by Guest
Staffordmum
At the risk of sounding like a trouble maker - why don't you just "Google" it? It's always nicer to "chat" with like minded ppl on the Forum but you might find this a quicker solution to your enquiry/query/etc. Kind regards, Pat & Steve
Henhathnofury
Sometimes there can be lots of postings and some can 'fall to the bottom.' In those circumstances it is best to post again on the same thread so that it jumps to the top. I never even look at who is posting to be honest...I just see if I can help. I know what it's like to be lost or a newbie. Or both. But I know nothing about electric fencing, bumper bits, cockerels, breeding etc...so many areas that are best for me not to add an opinion, as I have no experience. Sorry you might feel unloved but really there are no groups on here...just fowl people, if you know what I mean! The thing we all have in common though is a secret fear that we are thread killers...sometimes, having the last word is not good!
Valkyrie
Sometimes there are so many that it is impossible to get through them all. I did notice poor Debs was trying to get a meet in Wales and "Ooops, word censored!"ody answered - so I did so she wouldn't feel lonely! Usually I have such a hard time getting on the computer (when it doesn't go on strike) that I have lots of catching up to do. You can always try a second posting to bump your question up to the top as I have seen some people do that. It's not anything to do with who's new or whatever. Being a relative newbie to owning chickens there are still lots of things I don't know, so I don't feel I can help much, but do feel free to ask away - I did earlier too with regard to scaley leg. But don't let it put you off. Do have another go - look at this question - page 2 already!
Seagazer
I'm sorry if it seems that way, I agree with what the others have said. I have to say that in the 15 months or so that I've been on this forum there have been so, so many new posters that it really does get hard to keep up with all the threads because obviously more people means more topics. I don't manage to get onto all the sections now. I hope you got an answer to your original topic.

jlo
Jackie, I do know where you are coming from as I have sometimes posted something and watched it wither its way to the next page without too many replies but, as has been said by others, I don't believe for a minute that anyone on here would deliberately ignore any questions if they felt they could answer. I have taken the liberty of looking at your posts (being a nosey old so and so!! sorry! ) and it seems that you have had really useful replies to any questions that you have had so I hope that you aren't feeling too unloved!! I confess that I only really look at things like Chicken Clinic when I have a problem myself. I don't feel that I have nearly enough experience to offer any assistance on there. I know that this is a bit selfish as I think that it is great that so many Omleteers offer hugs and good thoughts even when they can't offer advice. In my defence, I am on here more often than I should be anyway so tend to stick to The Nesting Box and Chickens forums. Also, as has also been said - many of us have a secret dread of being thread killers!! Edited to add that the other thing that worries me is that sometimes the written word comes across differently from when you are talking and I fear that people may think that I am being rude or sarcastic when I don't intend to be. There are not enough smileys or punctuation to help sometimes!
sandyhas3chucks
I always try to answer in the clinic section, even if just to say someone hopewfully will pop in that can answer, as i know how worrying it can be. sometimes the ones I cannot read *& reply to are the sad goodbye ones, as it is too hard sometimes...but 0 replies I try to add something to, so sorry if you got missed and felt ignored. I can just echo all the other... well you got heard this time for sure. What was the post by the way?
chickencam
Sometimes you will find that there are quiet times on the forum. If you look at the bottom of the page it tells you how many people are browsing that forum and sometimes there many only be a couple, and they may not know the answer to your particular query. I find Friday mornings tend to be quiet as forum members desperately try to catch up on a weeks worth of domestic duties after spending the rest of the week browsing the forum (or is that just me?) If you don't get an answer within a day then you can bump the thread by adding a reply yourself, that way it will end up back at the top of the list where it may be seen by a different set of people. This is a very friendly and supportive forum
