theherd123
do you hate the Debenhams advert on telly too? What is it with a 'sexy' Father Christmas - its soooooo wrong!!! Santa is not supposed to be sexy wearing a red tailored suit eyeing up scantily clad women!!!!! He is supposed to be fat, round & friendly and someone who children can relate with at Christmas time! Is it just me???
Laura & CTB
No its not just you - I totally agree. I find it harder each year to keep the traditional Christmas values going and this sort of rubbish just cheapens the whole season!! The trouble is it will probably boost their sales and give them a reason to do even worse next year!
Martin B
It's a fair point but it may appeal to the modern day market!

Charlottechicken
I like it! (there's always one isn't there!) I like the skidoo thingy at the end as well instead of a sleigh. I think that some adverts are so clever, and better than a lot of the actual programmes

chelsea
cant believe someone else noticed this it bugged me too....and I hate the music when he spins around in that chair - I didnt get who he was supposed to be in the beginning until I noticed his horrible goatee, which is meant to be his beard I LOVE the morrison's advert where a REAL santa is buying carrots for his donkeys and all the little kiddies are looking at him....Awwww
Popcorn
I like it! (there's always one isn't there!) Two actually! I like it too, but I am a huge 'Gotan Project' fan who they have used for the music. Lets not forget it was that awful corporate company coke-cola who invented santa claus in all his red fat glory. Much, much worse than Debenhams little old advert. Sorry, I'm stepping off my box now. Don't want to seem like a scrooge type
Egluntyne
As far as I am concerned the gentleman in question is FATHER CHRISTMAS and not Santa Claus.
Lesley
...or should that be FATHER CHRISTMAS????? before the Coca Cola ads. (as Gina has mentioned) he was dressed in green.

kazaddress
I must admit it doesnt bother me, as I dont associate christmas with st nicolas at all.. I associate with 2 things, the celebration of the birth of jesus (although I know he wasnt born on the 25th), and the birth of the pagan sun god (a day in which people decorated their houses with firtree's and exchange gifts). Linda
Small blip. How many am I allowed? I believe it is 426 per year for the first five years following the birth of your first baby. If you have another baby, you are allowed twice that number until your youngest is ten. From then onwards you have to gather your wits and manage on 365 like the rest of us!!!! Popcorn
only 426...... Actually Linda, just to go off topic for a second, you're not wrong. I have been trying to work out my new part time hours for work and what exactly I am paid, and I just could not get my head around it. I ended up ringing HR who got a bit annoyed with me as it just wasn't sinking in. Of course, now I understand it, it's clear as day and I have no idea why I couldn't understand something so simple in the first place. I think I might award myself a few extra blip points and round it off to 500.
Egluntyne
Well Done Lesley, who says "or should that be FATHER CHRISTMAS?????" (The quote thingy didn't get the message accross properly.) Father Christmas was the traditional British figure...predating St Nicholas......who....like the ubiquitous(!) "Santa" is an import/imposter. And, yes, he should be in green, wearing an outfit a bit like a dressing gown with a hood and not the Coca Cola style outfit. I haven't seen the advert yet!! theherd123
The above points taken on board he should still not be eyeing up scantily clad women! I understand that even a symbol of the festive season has 'needs' but this is a bit low
Cate in NZ
I keep hearing the advert (isn't it to the song "Santa Baby" ) but I'm always busy.... I listen to the TV when I'm working in the kitchen rather than watching it ...... and I keep missing it. Must admit I'd quite like to see the young good looking Father Christmas in question I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of this advert, but Debenhams must be hoping that he'll drum up customers for them, and if it works, well good luck to them... I think There are so many images of Father Christmas around that how are we to really know what he looks like.... unless we all stay up really late on Christmas Eve I'll be so exhausted by then that I'll be in bed by 9:30 and will leave him to come in and deliver pressies u"Ooops, word censored!"served, dressed in red, green or purple, whichever suits him best. I don't mind I think Gina's right that Coca Cola came up with the current advertising image of the fat man in a red suit..... and if we're talking advertising and products then give me Debenhams and their good looking young man than Coke anyday I'll keep looking out for him
