Alis girls
yes the modern mum has a lot to contend with. I am not a lover of this modern fad but do it cos you do. I vowed after having 5 pre pubsecent lads in my lounge refusing to go to sleep and the noise never ever to do this again. I did get my revenge in that I got them up early for breakfast and the sight of their little tired faces filled me with glee. Now its 1 only so last night ES (13) had his mate round. Blow up beds (which deflate overnight) sleeping bags and the cats. They sat on sofa behind cushions watching "Alien predator" with a nervous looking cat perched between them . This morning our fat tabby aka Hon-a-bun who has a bad habit of sitting on breakfast table joined them next to their cereal. We were killing ourselves giggling at me trying to remove a cat who was joined to the tablecloth by her claw and the boys holding on tightly to their bowls (yes I know its not very hygeinic but she just appears and sits there staring at your food!!) Another time YS ( had a friend round and his little mate kept scratching all thro "Horrid henry" story. And yes you guessed it he had nits I spent the rest of the night scratching too. Oh the joys of motherhood

Alis girls
I suspect they go to bed so late they would sleep through it. An earthquake wouldnt wake my teenager. Sleeps like the dead

Geoid
I suspect they go to bed so late they would sleep through it. My dad said a force 10 earthquake under my bed wouldn't wake me up! (or something along those lines)
Guest
I just don't get the teenaged boy thing - do they REALLY find it impossible to wake up? I try to do deals with my 17 year old - that I will do so-and-so and in return I expect him to get up for school the first time I wake him (not the 110th time), and he always goes completely berserk telling me it is utterly unfair as he has some kind of narcoleptic condition that makes it impossible for him to wake up in the mornings! Sunshine
I think i must have been a wierd teenager. The latest i ever slept in was about 9ish on a weekend and then when i woke up i felt like i had wasted loads of the day already! Now i know i have to have lots of sleep otherwise i get cross really easily so i end up going to bed really early to compensate for waking up early! Purplemaniacs
Why are they called Sleepovers as sleep seems to be the last thing on their minds Chrissie
Seagazer
Hey its not just teenagers who will sleep through anything. Remember the hurricane of 87 - my DD chose that night to want to be born. I was only 35 weeks pregnant and the hospital had been worried she was too small all along. I started labour and an ambulance took me to hospital with hubby following behind. It was a bit windy but nothing unusual. At hospital they tried to stop labour and sent hubby home saying nothing would happen. Obviously the hurricane struck during the night, the electric went off just after my waters broke. They rang hubby in the morning at 8 am to say that I was in full labour and that they suggested a way for him to get to the hospital (literally the other side of town from our house). He said don't be daft I know the way to hospital. Opened up the front door and saw the destruction all around him! Apparently all the garden fences were blown down, our loft hatch had blown up into the loft and he slept through it all. He'd obviously not spent much time worrying about me! Edited to add: in my opinion when our DD had a bunch of girls over to stay it was worse as there was high pitch screaming most of the night. The boys seem quite tame after that. What is it with girls and the need to scream hysterically throughout a sleep over When DD wants a sleepover, I shudder at the thought and clear the diary for the day after as I know sleep will be nigh on impossible to achieve even if I do put my grumpy bear head on in the wee small hours DS on the other, well his mates are no bother and are frequently found on the sofas in the morning...I would never even have known they were there if he hadn't told me they were staying
