A chickychickychick-ENN!!
...is dying. Its closing down entirely in the UK. I've always thought it was a bit weird, selling coffee, cake, pen sets, lingerie, ski wear, computer peripherals and hole-punching kits in one neat little Germanic package. And I was rather pleased to get a portable weather station (like the Lidl one that was on the go a while back, but smaller) for £7, a dozen packs of coffee for six quid, and 75cl of coffee flavouring syrup for £3. Bargains. There's 20% off everything left. So some odd lingerie and ski wear, mainly. But they do give you a free cup of coffee with every purchase. Auf weidersehn, weird shop with lovely friendly staff!
Olly
As you say, they've had some weird combinations of stuff for sale - I've mostly looked at the website, I don't know if that will continue?
Egluntyne
I've had some odd quirky stuff from there and have always liked the surprise of what I'd find in the shop. The chocolate was very nice. Sorry to hear that it is going.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Today it is low pressure and 62% humidity and about 20 degrees. HOW GREAT IS THAT?! OH doesn't understand why I love my new weather gadget. He says I should poke my head outside. I say the barometric readings are useful to see if they match my headaches. High pressure=headaches/migraines for me (along with my family - see other thread), and now I have proof! On a string! Which I can hang round my neck! jlo
The Tchibo in Basingstoke shut down a few months ago and I felt quite sad about it as I would often pop in. I did have a major argument with a manager there a few years ago but, apart from her, I agree that the staff were friendly.
The Dogmother
The one in Banbers closed a while ago and they stopped sending out newsletters some time ago.
Helly Welly
So is the website continuing? I've had quite a few things from Tchibo, i like it.
missuscluck
The shop in sunny Crewe shut some while ago. I didnt really 'get it', a right mixed bag of stuff.
Hens@HalfMoonLane
I loved it and went in every Friday with a few friends to an Outlet one - a bit of a ritual. We used to challenge our friend who was a compulsive shopper to come out with nothing and she couldn't. It was a wierd shop but over 3 years I bought: a cuddly polar bear a microwave/grill/oven various 3 packs of toddler t shirts which was fantastic, I also bought some for a friends child a plug in energy monitor a peg bag and matching flower pegs - much admired by visitors 4 egg cups toaster magnetic drawing board probably loads more things I've forgotten about Another friend went in with us once and came out with a tan leather jacket and my husband got a 3 pack of boxer shorts from his mother last Christmas. Christian
The one in Andover shut a few weeks ago. Really lovely staff and I will miss popping in there for bits and pieces.
Reikiranf
My nearest Tchibo stopped selling coffee ages ago, sad news they're getting out of the UK as quickly as possible as I've bought quite a lot from them over the years and always found it to be good quality Amanda
ubereglu
I'm not really surprised. It was a bit of a strange shop wasn't it. We used to have one in Yeovil, but it closed down last year.
craftyhunnypie
Our Tchibo closed months ago. We miss it. I just hope the one in Salzburg Austria carries on & I also like the Eduscho cafes/shops over there too (very similar to Tchibo). We had our chicken cctv thingy from Tchibo. A great gadget! I got my mum a ring from the one in Salzburg. I've also had a brilliant ski jacket from there & various items of clothing. We adored their jars of gold coffee too. Mutrix Farmers
Our Tchibo in Canterbury closed years ago, which was a shame as I loved popping in there. Wonder if the mail order will continue though?

Helly Welly
To get back to topic, i got my weekly tchibo newsletter today with no mention of any problems so it's continuing for now anyway. Just no shops.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Since you ask, MASSIVE. I can see ten from where I'm sitting and I have boxes of structured and unstructured hats galore. I'm probably into three figures. I wear them too.
