Space Chick
I have booked an appointment with my hairdresser tomorrow and don't know what to do. Here is a summary of me now: I'm 35, podgy but not really fat (size 14-16 and 5'5''), I currently have just past shoulder length highlighted hair with a fringe which is quite curly/frizzy. I have a fairly round face with a high forehead. I have tried straighteners but truthfully do not have the time or inclination to spend that long on my hair, so usually its tied back in a pony tail. I am thinking about getting it all cut off. I want something where I can wash my hair in the shower, maybe stick the hairdryer on it for 2 minutes, but something that I don't need to worry about. I can't be bothered with hours on my appearance (I never wear make up either) I have better things to do with my time. Here is a photo of me at the moment. (With my beloved Donna) If I get it all cut off, will I look too fat and will it be harder to manage because of the frizz? I'm also thinking about going back to a bright auburn colour, as really liked that (Not that different to Donnas feather colours ). Thanks Omleteers, I love that you can ask anything on here and will get honest, impartial advice!! The Dogmother
You need to ask Angels4 (Mark) he's some high-falutin' hairdresser sort in the States
xScrunchee
When I went from having waist length hair to a short crop-I asked the hairdresser if she thought it would look ok. She said that when people with long hair keep it in a ponytail then of course short hair suits them as the tied back hair gives the same sort of look as short hair. Going by your pics I would say that short hair would look good on you considering I thought you had short hair in the top pic Go for it-it will look good Also the new colour will make you feel like you've had a complete makeover
PurpleTree
Yeah go for it. That's all I ever do with my hair - wash it, blast it with the hair drier, that's it. With yours being quite curly, it should give it a bit of lift. If you liked the colour before, then def do it. Can't wait to see the results If you hate it I'll buy you a hat until it's all grown again
Laura & CTB
Def go for it. I went from waist length hair to a crop - best decision ever. Two minutes with a hair dryer, blob of texture wax and its done! You will be able to play around with colour more if you want to and show off all your new pairs of earrings better
Patricia W
Yes - go for it! Hair always grows anyway so it's not forever if you don't like it. But I think you will - after the first 2 mins when you think OMG... Tricia
Cooks
Ask Cookiemonster !! Why ask me I am no expert.. I have just recently had my hair all chopped off thats all I say go for it, best thing I ever did, I was constantly tying my hair back, it was down my back, its now a short REDbob, I am having it cut again soon into more of a wedge... Cinnamon
Mine is curly too & I have been growing it for a year or so. As its got longer it's less frizzy & more ringlety, which I like - it suits my hippy vibe & I am happier with it now than I have ever been, but then I never tie it back like you do. Try it & see - at the very worse you can grow it back.

The Dogmother
I once went from waist-length hair to jaw length, then a gamine crop in just a few weeks. It's colder with short hair!
Sammy
Debs I have had every hair cut, length and colour you can imagine. My philosophy on hair is simple: if you don't like the colour - you can change it, if you don't like the length you can cut it/grow it/buy some extensions. You are not stuck with it if you don't like it.....so I say.... GO FOR IT!!!!! And post some piccies!!!
Scramble
I vote cut and go to auburn I think it'll look really nice We could always photo edit some pictures if you're not sure...and then you'd know what to expect.

Ain't Nobody Here
Ooh, I know just how you're feeling . I have short, curlyish/frizzyish hair which had been short my whole life till I spent about 5 years growing it and using straighteners. One day a year or so ago, I'd had enough and got it chopped off. It's sooooo much better - like you I don't spend much time on my appearance so it's great to just wash and go . Flo
OH is a hairdresser and he always says that curly hair looks so much better when it is cut as curly hair. Apparently lots of hair dressers treat it the same as straight hair (when it is clearly not)! A friend of ours has had hers between chin and shoulder length and it looks lovely. Whatever he did she just has to diffuse it a bit and it falls into lovely curls! Not sure that is much help but hope it goes well Flo
chick wiggle
i say do whatever you want to do debs, as other people have said its not forever anyway. Although I had my hair cut short years ago and i couldnt cope with it! It seemed to take me longer then, then it does now. At least on a bad hair day I can do it up. But im not very good with hair anyway so what do i know. Looking forward to the pics tho, and just enjoy the 'you' time.
BocBoc
Off off off off!! It's only hair and it will grow back. Go for a messy look with a bit of product after blasting with the hiardryer for some texture. A colour will lift you and your hair - do it!! Enjoy......and post up pics ASAP!
