Cockerel chorus!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Well Colin is loving his newly found role as cockerel instead of pretending to be a girl. I posted before to say that the people across the road also have a cockerel, which was going to be a great cover for colin crowing  Anyway it would seem that the boys have different plans, we are now woken to the cockerel chorus, one starts crowing and the other answers :lol::lol: they have very distinctive sounds so anyone who listens will no there is two of them

No complaints so far, one neighbour has said it all adds to the morning chorus of living in the countryside.

Anyone else have a Cockerel chorus?

Sounds fabulous!

I'm hoping not to get a cockerel chorus from my little Keema. He was clearing his throat a week or two ago, but not heard a peep from him since. Interestingly, walking to the bus stop at 7.45 yesterday we heard a cockerel crow in the next street! We're in quite a built-up area so the sounds stopped OH and I in our tracks!

I *have* to find him.....

We have a cockerel chorus when we holiday in France and love listening to it too. Our neighbour's cockerel has a little mound that he runs on to to hold a conversation with his (unseen by us) friend on the other side of us.

I would love a cockerel but we live in suburbia, so it's not feasible - although there is one somewhere nearby that we hear crowing early in the morning. I think it might be at the primary school. Having chickens seems to be very popular with schools now. My workmate visited a potential secondary school for her son and said they had a hen and THREE cockerels, which seem a bit hard on the poor hen. I wonder if they raised them from chicks?

I have been out and warned Colin that he is breaking the law with his singing, he didn't seem that worried as he put his head up and crowed

On a serious note, I really hope no one decides to complain. I have mentioned it to all of our neighbours and no problems so far. However, we have new neighbours who are "townies" through and through (no offence meant to anyone), they have cut down every tree and anything that grows as it is untidy so goodness only knows what they will say when they move in and hear colin

But for now, the chorus continues :dance::dance:

We have a few cockerels including ours and they all try to out-do each other  none are partcularly dominant though - when we had our big table bird cockerel he crowed constantly and the others stayed quiet - maybe thats because they realised that it wasnt worth competing :( they all found their voices when Dodge found the freezer

:lol::lol:

 I'd love a cockerel chorus! I could be tempted too - if i walk 20 yards down to the bottom of our cul de sac, there is a jitty with high fences on both sides. As soon as I get into the jitty, i can hear the cockerels in one of the gardens that backs onto it. I first heard just one cockerel about 3 weeks ago, but yesterday morning i swear there were at least three competing! 8) Wonder if I could get away with it too?

I don't see why not if others near to you have got them

When I asked the council they said that I am 100% allowed a cockerel but if people complained then the complaints would have to be investigated.

I just do all I can to try and keep his crowing within reasonable hours and hope for the best

So far so good. I have even rang the council since getting him to ask if any complaints had been made  -none so far
