The thing is, sweetheart......part 2!

However, I think that this bashing of her OH is unfair. I have tried to view things from his side.... So Omleteers, how about we cut this poor bloke some slack whilst he realises that chickens are actually fab :D

Well, I held back before saying anything but I don't agree. Why kick Eggregiousness when she is down? she has done nothing to "deserve" the incredibly hostile and babyish over-reaction by her husband: shouting, bullying and deliberately oppressive not-speaking/ silences (I remember those silences, they could go on for a week). Would not he have been included in the "big family decision to keep additional pets", if he were not this sort of person who unfairly uses the spouse's power of the veto? There is no excuse for his behaviour.

I am not going to comment any further on this. Good luck, Eggregiousness, your OH is setting an execrable example to the children but YOUR example will help ensure that your daughters are not walked over and made utterly miserable by petty husbands in years to come.

I totally agree. If he is not there most weeks then why can't she do what she wants? If you ask me, I think it is a tad selfish as he's not there BUT she isn't aloud anything to keep her 'company'

Tom, maybe he has no choice but to be away from home with work and would much rather be at home or at least working closer to home.

I have only just read this thread and going back to the beginning the point was made that he didn't want chickens. He obviously had his reasons but maybe a cleverly planned discussion might have been the way to go and his agreement won in time. Personally, if my DH was adamant that he didn't want a pet/pets then I wouldn't go ahead even if I thought he would come around eventually.

Maybe there's something else bothering him and the chicken purchasing wasn't really the problem?

I'm sure it will all work out in the end, it's just a shame that it's been a painful journey so far.

I'm totally understand that. My dad works away 4 days every week in france so I see what you are saying however I would have thought that he wants his wife to be happy as he can't be there all the time. My dad let me and my mum get a dog for 'company' as he thought it wasn't very nice for us to not see him.

I love your dog Tom!

I am beginning to feel uncomfortable about some of the comments being made. The truth is never straightforward and keeps changing depending on where you are standing. Suffice to say he helped me put the coop on its leg today without a single complaint and is rather impressed with it (more than he is with the chickens that's for sure  ) I have made him his favourite pie for tea :whistle:

It's back to work for me this evening. I feel OK but my voice is almost inaudible - aftermath of all the coughing - hope the patients aren't scared of me!

Hugs to all

Flu - ha you obviously didn't have 'man flu' or you'd be still bleating & still in bed!!! ;) Glad the girlies are slowly- but surely - winning over your man.

Such a relief that everything seems to be working out in the eggregiousness household and henhold  It can only get better, mark my words! I would delay the cockerel for a wee while though.

:shameonu: Chicken Shirl!!

Love the labradoodle Tom123 :)

Glad it looks like a happy ending - I hoped it would be, but I wasn't sure. I know my OH wouldn't want a cat - although I did ask if we could adopt Paolas - NO! Hmm. Never mind, in the future, next house - ve haf der vays! But it will have to be negotiated and agreed by both of us. The rats - well we already had two, and like chickens, two are never enough - plus I was out for a bit of revenge for something trivial that he did and I can't even remember now - so a bit out of order on my part. He never accepted the two extra girls - he only would have the first girl running up his sleeves (she was on her own in a pet shop when we were looking for them and she was only a baby - her friend was added shortly after from a rescue place).

Still, at least you are up and running around on here again. Nasty germs!

Clootie you are a naughty lady!
