The thing is, sweetheart......part 2!

Recommended Posts

I'm so sorry guys, for going awol. Husband was being utterly vile, angry, shouting and bullying, and I have been ill with flu (on the mend today). It was touch and go for a couple of days  . There was a breakthrough last night though when eldest daughter caught him watching the girls from the kitchen window and grinning at their antics. He has had the grace to soften his position and came out today to "help" me check whether the post for the house was concreted in properly. He had me dig it up, dig a new hole and do it again! I humoured him. He did hold the post for me while I poured the concrete in though  . Hopefully we are coming out the other side! :D Thanks for all your wishes, thoughts and concern. I couldn't face typing anything for a while - felt so miserable - but I was reading.

You are the best and most supportive bunch of lovely people ever!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Oh thank goodness! I was soooo worried! My OH is not wild about me starting in chickens either, I know how pig-headed they can be. Hopefully he is on the way up.

Why are chickens such a girly thing? It is not as if they were chubby and furry like bunnies. Being second cousin to dinosaurs (evolutionarily-speaking) you would think most blokes could admire their finer qualities.

I just don't get it. :?:

So glad this is working out for you.

It's taken ages to persuade my OH to let me have chickens, and many bribes! He keeps saying if they don't lay eggs he's going to eat them

I'm hoping he'll end up softening to the idea. We have our cube and first three arriving on 23rd October!

Thanks goodness! :D I was starting to think that something awful had happened!

Great news that you have had a breakthrough and the assitance with the post and concreting can only be a positive sign as that post is there to stay and therefore so are the chooks! :D

Hope you feel better soon!

I'm so happy to hear you are back on the mend and hopefully breaking through the "anti-ism" of you OH........we realy were all very concerned about you......however distant we are I think you nearly had a contingent of Omleteers raging around Fife & the surrounding areas calling "eggregiousness"...no mean feat either that one  !...at the tops of our voices :lol:

Hope the muscles aren't too sore tomorrow after all the digging

I am glad that you have survived. I read the previous thread. I am quite angry that he put you through this: it is well out of order. I don't have an OH now but yours sounds like mine was - and that "angry, shouting, and bullying" over some chickens is just control-freakery, in my view, and possibly also him wishing that he had thought of it first.

Sorry, that is probably no help but I am angry about your being subjected to all that (and the silences) just for some chickens.

Eggregiousness - You know I am behind you 100% and am so glad things are improving.

However, I think that this bashing of her OH is unfair. I have tried to view things from his side. He had said from post 1 of part 1 that he didn't want chickens, so it must have come as a big shock to him on his return home. He was probably all excited at being re-united with his family, and then realised that a big family decision to keep additional pets had been made in his absence. No wonder he felt angry and bullish, he felt like his manhood had been taken away I would guess.

So Omleteers, how about we cut this poor bloke some slack whilst he realises that chickens are actually fab :D
