docsquid
They sort of have different greetings for different situations. My DH is the one who caves in and gives them grapes even in the morning (I'm trying not to give treats in the morning). They are in the run during the morning, so whenever he opens the door they cram themselves against the door of the run in case he has a grape or three for them. Even if he hasn't he goes back and gets one. They have him well trained! I give them treats in the afternoon - just mixed chicken corn, usually. So they are only mildly interested in me when they are in the run, but when they are out of the run and I open the door, I nearly get knocked over by three lively chooks who come running, flapping and bokking from all parts of the garden! Particularly if I call "Chickens!" and shake the chicky-treat box. Sometimes all three but particularly Blodwyn lays siege to the back door and peck at the cat flap to let us know they want treats. We don't want to encourage this so I am trying to enforce the rule of no treats if they peck, but I've caught DH giving them grapes so I don't think this is working! In the morning when I let them out of the Cube they all give me a little polite, quiet "Bwerk-bok!" as they come out in an orderly procession. I find that really touching. They definitely look at me, one by one, and say "Thank you". When I'm cleaning out the nest box (they sleep in there, so I have to do it every day), if they are FR, they often come up and peck at my wellies just to remind me that they haven't had any treats yet. coco
I can stand in the doorway and call chook chooks and they all come running to the wire, and I'm still in the house even the ex bats who have only been here two and a half weeks. I get mobbed when I go in the fenced off area with them. The two ex batts are the first to greet me now, its nice to think they are enjoying life now and getting more confident. I get greeted my impatient brrings in the mornings when they want to be let out of the house.
Chick-a-doodle-doo
I love it, mine fly at me off their perches. It's great. I think I'm giving too many treats though! I'm trying to slow it down abit and make sure their eating the pellets.

Gelbel
First thing in the morning, when I open the conservatory door, mine all make noises like guinea pigs until let them out in to their 'outer run' or until they think I am no longer about if I have to keep them in their 'secure' run. Deep joy - my youngest has started to get vocal and a bit more up for a stroke or two; eggs on their way I hope. When I go out to them during the rest of the day they come charging towards me to either be FR or coz they think they are getting a treat. If they are FR they come even more head long towards me as power of deduction (even in small chicken minds) means it must be treat time. If the wind is in the right directon they can here the radio go on in the kitchen and they start wth the guinea pig noises again. Whatever I do, Rita will always say, "Thank you". The others just think I am their servant. Very occasionally, they wil remain on their perch and look at me as if you say, "What the heck do you want?" Lavenders_Blue
I am greeted with gentle sing-songy noises when I let them out first thing. For the rest of the day I am greeted by a rowdy mob following me round pecking at my wellies I love it!!

Valkyrie
And how many times do you do it just to see them running? When I open the cube door I usually get "whaaaaaaa" from the big girls - whingeing so soon. Squirt dashes up and usually runs around my feet - one of these days I'll trip over her. Tipsy used to run over the top of everybody in an effort to get out, but lately she's last and does her nasally "hawheehaweehaw" cluck - obviously the French in her, and then she'll be off. Squirt now taps at the door window if I'm in the kitchen. But like Slim - just squeak the door and they come running. Or if they see me by the fridge - fridge = grapes (oh no it doesn't - it also means coffee, brekkers, dinner etc and not always grapes).
