Seagazer
*stands up shyly and coughs*My name is Rhapsody and I don't like Xmas decorations, apart from xmas trees (real, please) fairy lights and holly. The rest I find ghastly and depressing, especially tinsel. *sits back down and looks at feet* Ok I'll hold my hands up - I don't like tinsel either. I refuse to have it on the front room tree. The kids put it on the dining room tree - yuk.

Laura & CTB
I will be putting up the tree on Sunday - artificial as I dont want the cat to stab himself in the paws with real pine needles. I've been using the same white and gold decorations for years and years, so much so that I know exactly what the tree is going to look like before it goes up So this year I've splashed out and bought purple ones to go with the white ones - no idea what that's gonna look like I have to agree with the tinsel thing too - I have the tree and maybe some holly and ivy round the mantelpiece but that's it! chickencam
*sneaks in* I quite like tinsel and I feel a bit silly now We have a string of white lights up on the dark blue feature wall that has our woodburner on it, all year round. docsquid
*sneaks in* I quite like tinsel and I feel a bit silly now Well don't feel silly because I like it, but not cheap tinsel - I like the newer better quality tinsel. I have two chream and gold garlands on the tree, one over our alcove and some gothic black tinsel on the wreaths that I made. You're not alone, chickencam! chelsea
I will be putting up the tree on Sunday! So are we - off to the local Christmas tree farm to pick out one (hopefully a smaller one than last year )
Cinnamon
I don't do tinsel either, nor Lametta, nor coloured lights. I have succumed slightly today on my 12 days before rule,& bought the most gorgeous set of metal star shaped lights with little star cut outs from John Lewis,& hung them around my huge mirror over my fireplace. They look lovely
Angels4
I put up my tree last night (FAKE) but in my defense it was one of the things the previous tenant left at the cottage...it also is prelighted with colored lights (YUK) I would prefer a real tree with just simple white lights and silver and blue ornaments but as I wouldn't have a tree otherwise this works for now. I tried taking a proper picture but it just looked .......pitiful, so I played around with camera movement.
Valkyrie
Ooh they look like little reindeer heads, Mark. Er we have tinsel on the tree - every year more disappears up the hoover. Lots of lights (I prefer static - OH insists on flashy ones ). All sorts on the tree and beads choccies, and candy canes - Jelly Belly ones if I can find them because of the sizzling cinnamons . Pressies underneath, fairy angel thingy on the top. Mantlepiece has garland with proper pine cones and cinnamon sticks, lots of raffia, white static fairy lights. Nearly getting excited. Cooks
well I was going to put the tree up but got side tracked.... maybe tomorrow.
Lewis
We normally have lots of lights and silver tinsel with silver baubles and these glass ones that reflect the lights on the tree. We also have a few random 'special' baubles from when we've been on holiday and things This year because its a real tree we've not put and tinsel on and it looks good Off to buy a few more lights now
Sunshine
I think we are putting ours up at the weekend or early next week. Mum has said that she would rather have it up more before Christmas day and then put it down sooner than the 12 days. We have red and gold decorations with white coloured lights on our artifical tree. I think we will have to start our decorations a 1/3 of the way up though and Lola will no doubt steal baubles off the tree if she gets the chance! Seagazer
YS has declared that he would like the decorations up before his birthday on Tuesday so that is what we are going to do today.
Olly
My tree is coming today, my tree is coming today! I bought another set of lights yesterday in Paperchase, the lights are in plastic pegs so you can peg cards up, but actually I thought I might use the pegs to attach them to something. I have about six or seven different sets of lights, they're the best bit. And I bought some MORE tinsel a couple of weeks ago, it has to be silver, none of the pink and blue stuff, but the more of it the better. No lametta though, too messy. One of my earliest memories of Christmas is sitting at the dining table with my brothers and sisters and making paper-chains. Bet "Ooops, word censored!"ody does that now! Seagazer
I remember making paper chains too. I did it with my older two kids as well. They loved it. I used to get them something to make for a decoration anyway. They're a bit too old now .

Charlottechicken
Have you made your chicken paper chains yet? I wonder if it is possible to have a house full of chicken themed Christmas decorations? Now that would be funny

Lewis
We've always had paper chains! Last year they were all over my ceiling from one side to the other, like meeting in the middle ... haven't put them up this year They now sell foil papery ones, that came double sided tape'd, but it kind of spoils the fun! Seagazer
Put my living room tree and decorations up but they need a bit of tweaking! The outside lights are up too. I think we're the first out of our neighbours to do them. Hubby and I both got really sore throats and feeling lousy so will leave the dining room tree to YS for tomorrow. chickencam
Hope that you are both feeling better today. We put our tree up yesterday, we decided on a real one and spent an hour dodging heavy showers choosing it as usual. At one point we had 4 out of 5 of us holding different trees and OH looking at them all, someone came past and said have you got room for 4 trees We are really pushed for space this year because we have bigger sofas, so we have had to remove most of the CD's out of the lounge onto the landing, so we will keep fit when we want some music on Also made the first batch of mince pies last night with the mincemeat I had made earlier in the week. They were lovely 10 disappeared within about 5 minutes of being out of the oven
Seagazer
Ah thank you Liz, I'm actually feeling worse today hopefully better tomorrow. YS and ES did the little real tree in the dining room so we're all done now. Will put some photos on later.
