Angels4
Has anybody ever forgot to let the girls out of the cube ALL DAY. I lefty for work at about 5:30am this morning and I forgot to let the girls out of the cube as I usually leave the door open but because of the bitter wind last night I shut the door, as a result I forgot to let them out in the am....Has anybody else ever done this and do you think they will be ok? Egluntyne
At this time of year they will just be hungry, thirsty and a bit miffed. In the summer it would be a more serious matter. You might not get any eggs tomorrow!
Ain't Nobody Here
Could've been worse. You could have had an eglu . I'm sure they'll be fine - you might have to spoil them a bit to help them forgive you though .
Angels4
I have set the waterer and the feeder inside the cube with them for the evening so I'm hoping they will at least drink if not eat. No eggs tomorrow seems like a fair exchange. I have posted a reminder sign on the door as I leave as a precaution so I don't ever do that again. I'm just glad they will be ok. In the summer months I will be leaving the door open all the time but it was so darn cold and windy here last night I wanted to keep them out of the draft. I have the whole day off tomorrow and will be home working around the garden so I will feed them some extra meal worms and warm oats as a peace offering. chelsea
I am sure somebody on here did it once, a long time ago.
Angels4
Could that person be the person who posted just before me? Well the girls have made it out of the cube this morning but with a little hesitation and ALOT of dirty looks I've promised to make it up to them but I think Lucy believes that i have "alot of 'splaining to do". As she won't even look at me.

WarrensWorld
I think grapes, and sweet corn are the order of the day. Just hope they're in a forgiveful type mood.......
Space Chick
So they didn't appreciate a "duvet day" then
Chicken Shirl
Oh dear Mark, she does look cross. I think you have a lot of making up to do.
Plum
You are definately in the dog house. You won't live this down in a hurry. They will bring it up at every opportunity.
BarbaraJ
Yep hubby did it, i went out to put them away and they were still in luckily it was winter in a wooden coop so they weren't really bothered at all think they thought it was a very long night
Angels4
Being winter is the only blessing. I'm sure Coco was screaching at the top of her little lungs to be let out. Poor neighbors.
Olly
I did it, when I'd had my new Eglu and hens approximately two weeks luckily it was winter, but I was absolutely terrified when I got home and realised what I'd done. I was convinced I would find two dead hens in there. Like yours, they were just rather cross and bemused at why I was shining a torch on them and feeding them sweetcorn at 9.00 o'clock at night! It's one of the main reasons why I now leave the door open all year round.
