Snowy
My poor boy. I went out with him last night to watch him and his fellow students do a gig. They were all in groups and each group had a couple of songs to do throughout the evening. Son's group were on 5th, so quite early on in the evening. But his fellow band members didn't show up!! He tried ringing them but no answer, and there were no messages left to say why they hadn't been able to make it. He was very philosophical about it, but I was so upset for him. All the way there he'd been telling me about the song they had been practising (a ska version of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band! ) and we were both looking forward to it I've told him he needs to have words with his tutor - it's really not fair if his grades fall because he can't do his performances Sorry, rant over! Just being a grumpy overbearing mother
Chook n Boo Mum
That's so mean on the others part, good on him for being philosophical on the night ........I bet he won't be so philosophical when he sees them though Sha x
The Dogmother
Oh, the poor love, what a disappointment for him.
Chucky Mama
Just being a grumpy overbearing mother [/color] Not at all, I would be furious too, how frustrating. Why is it that kids spend all day fiddling with their phones and yet you can never phone them on the darned things Doing joint things that are marked are so hard as there is often someone that doesn't pull their weight. Cinnamon
That is such a shame - I hope the boys who let him down,& their parent, have the same disappointments one day
Seagazer
Thats not fair for your son, I'm not surprised he's disappointed and you're angry.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Meh. It's great he's got the confidence to perform. I hope that bears out beyond the disappointment. Let us know if the bottlers have any reasons as to why they didn't turn up.
Beauty-Box
You're not being a grumpy overbearing mother at all! Any one else would feel exactly the same, I know I would. I hope he can put it behind him.
docsquid
So sorry to hear that. He absolutely shouldn't be penalised in his grades if the rest of his group can't be bothered to turn up. However the ones that didn't turn up for no reason, and with no message, should be penalised.

Ain't Nobody Here
What a shame . Was there not even an explanation from the others ? 10 out of 10 for him showing total commitment though .

Egluntyne
That is a shame. Poor lad. A poor reflection on his friends and their parents.
Snowy
Well we finally had a message mid morning to say that their bus broke down I know it can't be helped, but as you say, teenagers and phones. Would've been nice to know last night! If he'd known in time, there were other musicians who offered to play with him who could've gone on if they'd known Anyway, he is fine. It seems there is another group that he jams with every week just for fun - he is going to talk to his tutor about shuffling them round as this second group seem to have more in common (and more commitment! ) I'm just disappointed because I wanted to boast about my talented son! Who says pride comes before a fall?
Purplemaniacs
At least you got a reason eventually, shame one of them could not have let you know on the night, you would have thought one would have had a phone. Hope the other group works out for your son. Chrissie
theherd123
What a shame Snowy but hopefully the other lads he jams with will come through for him. It's terrible they didnt get a message to your son on the night
The Dogmother
Maybe it's fate Snowy and the alliance with the new group will be better for him.
