Him Indoors has just come home from his second shopping jaunt of the day to report that folk are coming to blows (literally) in the Co-op car park over parking spaces.

 

He hopped it quick.

Same here in Sunbury Cross car park, the spaces at ground level outside the shops are hectic with people trying to park in the same spot, from my window I have seen a few shoves and arguments

 

I parked in the adjoining multistorey where there are loads of free spaces

 

Why do people put themselves through it all?

Crumbs. Is it really worth it - over a parking space? People do lose their sense of proportion at times like this.

I had to go out earlier, but decided to get a taxi down to town and back again. I'm glad I did as it was crazy. A woman in my hair dresser had seen fights in M&S and I witnessed a bit of a "to do" over a car parking space.

 

I don't understand why people just don't calm down a bit

Im pleased to report it was the total opposite in Sainsburys earlier today

Arrived early to pick up some extra bits for Isabelle and the 'zap as you go' things were playing up but everyone was really nice about it and the staff very helpful.

The fruit & veg aisle was manic but I didnt see anyone fighting over figs or poking each other with parsnips!

Hopefully it is all being delivered, except for a few fresh items I can get at the local Spar. The worst riot I ever saw (apart from Milwall at Aston Villa a number of years ago!) was at the local Asda about 20 years ago. They'd just started 24 hour opening and were my only option to get Christmas dinner.

 

It was pre EWTD days, and I'd been working on-call at the hospital non-stop and finally got away from the hospital and to the store about 1am. There were pensioners beating each other with their walking sticks to grab the last Christmas Pud! Mental!

Our local supermarket was HEAVING this morning, but most people were very cheerful and the staff were handing out sweeties to those of us stuck in the queues. I only had a list of about 12 items, luckily!

 

I did hear rumours of 'animated discussions' in car parks but I just used the one a bit further away and walked across... the lack of grit was the only problem, everywhere was, to quote DS1 'well slippy'.

Well I'm just back from Asda and am pleased to report all was cheery They had men in the car park showing you to empty spaces, the shelves were stocked to capacity and although it was really busy I didn't see any fisticuffs Our check out lady was a bit grumpy but cheery with it in a "Mo from Eastenders" way

We have just got back from the local Supermarket Waitrose!! Not a real issue in the car park but blimey in the shop itself! It's like the world is going to end any day now & everyone is buying everything & anything they can get there hands on & believe me they have no issue barging & shoving people out of the way in the process!

 

Suffice to say... could not get away quick enough - chaos!!!!

Hubby's planning on going to Tesco as soon as the kids wake us up in the morning, so probably about 6am. Hopefully it won't be too busy at that time. I'm of the view that if he can't get anything for Christmas day roast, we've got enough other stuff in the freezer. Lasagna anyone?

The Tesco I shop at near where I work is actually shut on Boxing Day

people go mad at Christmas dont they, I mean it's only another day! If I forget something or they dont have it in stock, so be it. Luckily (or is that unluckily) for me this year I have hubs and parents running around shopping for me...

There were arguments galore going on in M&S simply food today! I walked in & straight out. I mean would you really argue over a pack of frozen yorkshire puddings? I couldn't believe it!

I braved the supermarket this morning and it was getting busier and busier. No fisticuffs but plenty of people climbing up their stressometers and not willing to wait a couple of seconds for someone to move out of their way

I haven't been shopping today but my sister has - she was not a happy bunny when she got home, she had steam coming out of her ears! She said everybody was pushing and shoving and no-one had any manners today

OH went to Waitrose for the posh stuff plus had to pick up the turkey from nearby which was busy but civilised and I went to Lidl last night, it was a dream. Fruit and veg great value and quality as usual and plenty of parking and went straight through at checkout. Even picked up an extra pressie (hairdryer).

I'm dreading it now - I need to go tomorrow for dog food and cat food as I get paid tomorrow so couldn't go sooner (bad planning on my part, or rather bad planning on the DOG'S part for eating ALL the cat food as well as her own! ) Personally I shall be in "the zone" and will glide serenely past the s"Ooops, word censored!"ping sprout bashers, and if all else fails I shall stand there and yell MERRY CHRISTMAS at the top of my voice! If it doesn't restore a sense of Christmas spirit at least everyone will think I'm mad and give me some space!!
