Hmmm. I must admit the fact that lots of keys are affected is more suggestive of a spillage, where you might have had a bit of a lucky break (water dries out, so the problem goes away, although keyboards are less forgiving of sugary drinks). However, if you're fairly sure it's the result of applied pressure, the chances are high you'll need to replace the keyboard.

However, it's worth remembering that laptops are far more modular than they used to be, so it is perfectly possible to get a keyboard as a replacement part. I've already found at least one site that sells replacements for Advents, and that's here. I did a quick look around, using an Advent 7086 as an example in the absence of knowing which model you've got, and the replacement keyboard it had on offer was about £29. Fitting can be a bit fiddly, but isn't particularly technical to do.

I'd suggest you contact Advent (Dixons Stores Group, I think) directly as a first step, since they'll deal with this sort of issue day in, day out. However, the (hopefully) reassuring thing is that the realistic worst case isn't that expensive to sort out.

a while ago i had the exact same problem, my laptop is the same make as yours. Molly was sick on the couch, i jumped up and spilled my coffee all over the keyboard....it never got better so I bought a keyboard that you can plug into the usb port, much cheaper than a new laptop!

I think can get special cleaners, the problem fizzy drinks is the way they crystals form and this is like an aerosol (not the air cleaner sprays) that dries in a different way... I've tried to google it but can't seem to see it

I'm sure I saw it what I spilt tea on mine

OK, in that case you've two options. Number one is, indeed, to get a new keyboard and fit it. Number two is to remove your existing keyboard, immerse it in distilled water (warm by preference and certainly water only; no detergents or anything) and let it soak for several hours, then leave it in an airing cupboard for a couple of days to make absolutely certain it's fully dry again before refitting it. A keyboard is only a set of contacts and springs, devoid of more fancy electronics (usually) so it may be possible to wash the sugar out again.

Strategy number two is still hit and miss, but from a starting point of knackered, the keyboard can only get better. If it still doesn't work, you can revert to strategy one. I would, however, underline how important it is for the keyboard to be dry internally before refitting it and turning the laptop on.

If you want any more detailed advice, feel free to PM me.
