My big lad Oscar broke his leg in September and this little chap has been his companion while on 6 months box (bed) rest. They are now in the same area together and Bailey stands right under Oscar.. will take some upto take pics soon.. Having an afternoon nap.. ( I used to have freind at school who converted the garage into a stable for her horse!!) Bailey s gorgeous - hope oscar makes a full recovery soon! Hoping to put DD on him for short walks in a few weeks and then go out in small pen in our paddocks soon after. What a sweetheart - I am sure i can make room in my garage for one of those!! Glad he is getting better Sounds a good idea, this is what we did when Bobby did the same. Although desperately seeking a sharer or loaner at the moment as totally wasted. DD still rides her occasionally but has another 16hh Mare to keep fit so she doesn't get out much at all. I shouldn't have four but never move any on and seemed to have added to herd while Oscars been ill as needed a companion for him and another showjumper for DD. Now 4 is rather expensive and takes so much time so no more for a few years! Really want someone to love her and another one to hack out the larger mare too as I can't ride at the moment and hopfully Oscar will be able to hack by summer too so really got our hands full! I can imagine you Shetland mare is very strong willed..they do always seem to be Bailey has attitude as still a colt but still very loving and sweet and not yet fully 'dropped'! Never thought I would have one and only got him for the 6 months companion period but dont think I'll be allowed to let him go now either dreading making a shetland proof field! Mrs Webmuppet Posted January 25, 2010 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Bailey is just sooo cute. Shetlands have quite an attitude. I learnt to ride on a 'normal sized' Shetland called Pickles as a kid. The instructors used to joke that any of the children that survived riding him would make half decent riders ( Pickles only aim in life was to see how many small children he could maim and throw off.......)
