What do you wear to go shopping?

Recommended Posts

No, this isn't another peopleofWalmart thread.. well, not quite!

Is anyone else ever dismayed at what people wear to shop in the supermarkets? One of the reasons (apart from their moral stance - or lack of it) that I don't shop in Te$co any more is that I got fed up with seeing people shopping in their PJs, slippers, bare torsos (men) bikinis and sarongs... you name it!

I see that one store has put up a notice about appropriate attire

Now, I know that I chainsaw in my bikini, but that's in my own back garden; I wouldn't dream of going to the shops dressed like that.

I regularly see a woman in our supermarket wearing a dressing gown and with wet hair. Evidently she goes to the local sports centre for a swim and then goes shopping. How much trouble would it be to put on her clothes afterwards?

Would she go into M&S or Cole 's in the city centre dressed like that? I doubt it.

We used to have a mum who deleivered her child to school gates in her PJ's - hair all over the place and no bra - everything not in its place if you get my meaning. Dads probably enjoyed it but us mums were a bit critical to say the least. So slovenly - I mean I look like the wild woman of Borneo before hair make up and clothes - I dont look much diferent with them come to that :lol::lol::lol:

I feel a bit slovenly when I go out to see the hens in a morning in my dressing gown and pjs. I can't believe that people would go out in public like that. I don't feel right until I am dressed in the morning.

We went to a sixth form open evening last night and there was a girl there in the sort of tracksuit bottoms that look more like pjs and a tatty white vest top, I wonder what she wears when she goes shopping.

I must admit, I haven't seen dressing gowns or slippers in our local Sainsbury's. I wear just what I wear everywhere else, which is jeans and trainers plus whatever top is appropriate to the outside temperature - t-shirt in summer, with added jumpers or sweatshirts and jackets in winter. I always wear full-length trousers, even in the hottest summer, because of operation scars on my legs which I don't want people to see.

I just wear the same old thing - jeans, sweatshirts, caterpillar boots, body warmer. In the summer, cropped pants, vest, flip flops. What I do find amazing though,is when I go first thing on a Sunday, there are women there who look like they are about to go out clubbing!! Full on make-up, amazing clothes and stillettos! They must have to get up at the crack of dawn to get themselves ready to hit Tesco! Maybe they are hoping to meet someone?? Hmmm :think:

Oh no! The Tesco in that article is the one not far from me  We don't go to that one though, we go to a different one. I'm not altogether surprised about it though, considering the area that it's in. I do see women in their pyjamas quite often, although admittedly it's just the type of trousers they have on, that makes me think they are pyjamas. I see slippers out and about quite often too.

I am always fully dressed when I go shopping - jeans, jumper, coat - the usual type of thing.

I wouldn't dream of going to the supermarket in PJ's or dressing gown. I have gone to the shops with wet hair but I daren't put a hair dryer anywhere near my hair. The slobbiest thing I wear to the supermarket is my tracksuit bottoms and a hoody after I've been to the gym.

Even on holiday I wear shorts that come down to my knees and a rash vest ( a kind of UV proof t shirt) my flesh is not to be revealed it's far too scary.

I wear normal clothes but often go out with wet (but brushed) hair

I have seen people in slippers, PJs, no tops etc.. in supermarkets back in Bristol but wellies are more common in our area!

 Phil's already tried that one... talked about 'Chicks with Chainsaws' or something like that  It just makes it easier to get all the woodchip off! Only in the summer though and I promise not to wear it to the supermarket.
