Chickens on Dream Farm!

Recommended Posts

If you look at their website they are offering building design, garden design, wendy houses and hampers so it looks like they are having a real go at diversifying

They seemed a bit wishy washy to me, I dont know if the 'up and down' enthusiasm will get them through it but wish them luck

The original 'normal' chicken hoses he built would probably sell better

Their website: The Wood Life

They really are expensive, I know they must be a lot of work, but not expensive on materials.

When the start of the Royal show was on, just as they were showing their white tent, there was a (red eglu) behind them (I think) and then in another shot was the (pink eglu).

One of the ladies that was being interviewed looked like she was standing in front of a chicube aswell.

I'd rather make my own like one of his than buy the ones he made...they're so expensive!

I'm dubious about his starter packs though...they're just chickens and a house...not any other accessories.

I thought he looked like HFW too!

Can I hijack this for a minute. What's your Barnevelder like. I'm thinking of getting one in the spring. Thanks

Yes he did look like a HFW wannabe. They seemed like a nice bunch, but agreed that the houses are way over what anyone would buy for a hen house. Too arty and impractical in the long term. Wont look so good covered with hen poo and been out in all weathers.

Agreed with Monty, cant see how thay can possibly make a living.

Hmmm I can see the chicken head and tail rotting fairly quickly. I'll stick to Omlet houses.

I spotted the eglu - made OH rewind until I saw it. I got a bit of grief though!

I am finding the programme interesting only in what not to do when getting a smallholding. I think they are all trying to do too much too soon and forgetting priorities. Says she with messy greenhouse and rubbish in the garden.

Did you see the (red eglu) and (pink eglu) at the Royal show, next to his stand? 8)

I remembered seeing his stand at the Royal when I was visiting the Omlet stand (and doing some unofficial plugging for Omlet to a lovely couple who were interested, as all the official Omlet people were busy at the time).

I also remember thinking the chicken wigwam was cute but pricy.

Shame Monty wasn't there on the day I was.

I've hankered after bantam Barnies before, but was put off because they don't lay brown eggs (something to do with how they were developed from LF to bantam). Mind you, I've ended up with a trio of Indian Game who are as beautiful as Barnies and they lay ......... white eggs.

OSH, the Endmoor chap said his LF Barnevelders were pretty much a match for his RIR in the laying stakes and I was very tempted.
