RIP Kilo :-(

Recommended Posts

Well, Kilo died this morning, 20 mins before her appointment to be put to sleep.

She hadn't been too well this weekend and we'd brought her in. We had thought she might have a heart condition a couple of months ago when the weather was cold & her comb showed her circulation wasn't so good. She seemed to recover, but over the last week got less active & although able to eat wasn't running around so much & her comb turned dark bluish again. In the end she didn't want to move & tho' eating if tempted with goodies, wasn't really wanting to eat or drink. We'd made the decision to have her put to sleep, but she beat us to it.

We are glad we brought her in as we were able to make her more comfortable over her last days and encourage her drinking.

We're really glad for the vet book we had invested in that gave us forewarning as to the heart condition. There were no other health issues that she had and really had spent her life energy - the downside of hybrids bred for egg production.

Miss you Kilo! xx
