I am just not sure if I fancy it or not My youngest is going this weekend though & is Alice mad at the moment....I have just bought her a 'drink me' bottle necklace from eBay for her Easter basket
chickric
Can't wait to go and see it, everything I've heard or read has been positive.

Lavenders_Blue
Not been to see it yet, but I'm hoping to. I would be really interested to see what others make of it. I'm not sure I would enjoy it if it's too OTT and hollywood-ish, as I just love the book, but I think it could be great in 3D. I love the idea of a Cheshire Cat beaming out of the screen at me! Cinnamon
Can't wait to go and see it, everything I've heard or read has been positive. Really? alih
Took our entire brood (15,14,10 and 6) yesterday. Style over substance definitely, but what style! The kids all really enjoyed it, JD is glorious and the whole thing looks absolutely wonderful. Am not a massive fan of cgi/ 3d as I prefer the old -fashioned stuff and I always found this particular story difficult to engage with. But I would say it's worth it as a visual treat and if you like JD that's an added bonus.
ubereglu
It looks good and I really want to see it-the costumes look truly amazing!
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
V excited. Just hope the 3-D is proper poppy-outy. It's disappointing when you shell out for a 3-D ticket and the film's been made for five year-olds (yes, you, UP) so is all about depth rather than things looking like they're flying out at you and about to whack you on the head. I want to be whacked on the head. I also want to know about this Easter Basket Cinnamon. I used to get a chocolate egg. A basket of goodness gubbins sounds way more cool. Cinnamon
I also want to know about this Easter Basket Cinnamon. I used to get a chocolate egg. A basket of goodness gubbins sounds way more cool. Not being religious sorts,I wanted to do something without it being to 'Eastery' So I get a gift bag & pop little things in there - a bit like stocking fliiers. Lush bath bombs, pretty knickers & some choccies are staples,as well as a book usually too. Just little things I collect up really
The Dogmother
I haven't seen it Sarah, but Rosie is keen - she's going with Phil
Cooks
Its just not appealing to me for some reason ut I might be tempted if you all think its good.
The Dogmother
TBH, it has never appealed to me either Cooks, nor did the books.
Cooks
nope same here, I didn't like the books either.
Valkyrie
Number one son has seen it and I asked what he thought as it had been panned in the reports - he said it was very good. He didn't like the dormouse though. Apparently it's like a Wonderland revisited, they treat the original version as a dream so may not be like the book (his words not mine). I think I can wait till it comes on Sky movies. Loved the book, but in all the films and cartoons they always leave out the mushroom bit where her neck grows and she frightens a bird - and I always laughed at that bit (read the book so many times). I first read it when I was five (could read at 3) - gosh it did get the imagination going. Mum said I giggled all the way through it. Not too keen on Through the Looking Glass though. Lewis
Went to see it on Friday too Really liked it - after hearing about it I was expecting it to be really wierd, could have been a bit wierder IMO Spotted a few continuity errors too but still ... Really liked it + liked how the story was done, rather than just straight forward plot : D
ladyjulian
I saw it and thought it was brilliant. Lovely dose of whimsical goth. Yes, there's some saccharine Victoriana going on, but there needs to be a bit of the disney-sugar to make the dark bits stand out. The effects are amazing (it was the first 3D film I've seen) and I thought the story was well done and the use of the Lewis Carroll language was very clever. I'm by no means a film buff (my best friend did an MA in film studies and TBH most of what was considered "good" on her course just bored me) but that's the first time I've been to the cinema and NOT felt ripped off in ages! Helly Welly
We saw it on Saturday and loved it. I love anything Tim Burton, he's just sooo twisted so him and Alice in Wonderland seem the perfect combination. I was surprised at the negative reviews, it's a good job i make up my own mind. There wasn't one thing i didn't love. I knew it was a revisited scenario so i was prepared for that. We saw it in 3D, though i must say, i'm getting a bit fed up with the price of 3D tickets
Cinnamon
Right, thats it,I am going I might even treat myself to one of the super posh leather luxury seats
TAJ
It went to number 1 in the US its first weekend and took more money than Avatar in its first weekend. Having seen Tim Burton being interviewed they quite clearly were not trying to be faithful to the story of the bok - just the characters. Tim Burton's chcildrens stuff is always a bit dark & quirky - I feel this will not disappoint and I hope to see it in 3D. Tracy
Cinnamon
Just got back Hmmmmmmmmm, I am not sure. I did enjoy it,& am probably not the best person to offer a review as I don't like the book much (too much madness for me!). I found it a relaxing movie to watch, & it was a spectacle, but would I see it again - no The costumes were amazing,as was the make up, & Johnny was wonderful. Too many eyeball things going on for me too - My one hatred is eyeballs I found it a little fractured in places, not enough flow to it,but Tim Burton is a (twisted) genius,& of course this shines though So, an experience I am glad I had,but not one to totally rave over, for me
Valkyrie
Glad you enjoyed it - sort of! Nothing worse than going full of good expectations and finding the film sadly lacking and you either walk out or suffer in order to justify the expense. craftyhunnypie
Us 3 ladies (mum, sister & me) are going on Sunday - treat for mum. I love Alice in Wonderland - I've had some March hare & clock earrings from ' Claires' for a good while now. A drink me bottle sounds very nice, but please no cake with ' eat me' on it! Do they still paint the roses red & play croquet with flamingo type birds? I love the dream world madness! I can't wait to see The Madhatter's Tea Party. I too will be having an Easter gift box instead of choccy eggs. Emma.x
