A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I've just watched Black Books and I just love the theme tune. It's a sort of wonky, 50s guitar sinister Caribbeany calypso-ey thing. Which got me wondering - what are your favourite TV theme tunes? Which ones give you a nostalgia or happy vibe? Scramble
I can't think of one at the minute...just wanted to say I like Black Books
MedusA
Doctor Who......of course! Always gives me goosebumps of anticipation. We like Black Books too. Imported series - The Wire, Damages and True Blood all have good theme tunes. Oh, and all the CSIs too but then they are all Who songs. Seagazer
We love the True Blood theme tune, gets our feet tapping all the time. I have to say The Waltons song just takes me straight back to my childhood and the theme from Follyfoot Farm.
alih
Oh my goodness I could go on forever about kids' tv programme themes: White Horses, Belle and Sebastien, Dr Who ( ), Follyfoot, Flambards, Black Beauty, The Banana Splits, Little House on the Prairie....and The Waltons. Will stop there for now. Today's telly? Love the Black Books theme too - very Tom Waits. Larkrise ( ), always loved Blue Peter, Shameless....not as many!! Space Chick
There was a programme on in the late 80's/early 90's called "Midnight Caller", it was a fabulous show, I loved it, and it had the coolest TV Theme ever. I look every couple of months to see if someone has seen sense and released it on DVD - alas not yet It ran for 3 series and had the closing catchphrase "Goodnight America, where-ever you are" delivered in the gorgeous dulcet tones of Gary Cole (As an aside, the female lead was called Devon, and I have often wondered if that is where Cinnamon got her inspiration for her daughters name..... well Cinnamon?) earthmam1
I used to love Midnight Caller - it was so cool!!!! This dates me a bit (i was quite young!) but I used to love Rawhide and The Lone Ranger. Now I really liked Life on Mars and Dr Who. sue
Cinnamon
(As an aside, the female lead was called Devon, and I have often wondered if that is where Cinnamon got her inspiration for her daughters name..... well Cinnamon?) No,but thats really interesting. I got it from a book I read during my late pregnancy - its commonly an ethnic male American name,& rare in females Oddly another female Devon was born a couple of weeks before her in Henley too. Both girls went to the same secondary school & the 'other' Devon bullied my one for stealing her name Mine was supposed to be called Sophie, but the gas & air made me a bit mad & I insisted she be called Devon instead. Hubby dared not argue with me

bluekarin
Firefly I agree, we love the Firefly theme tune. Such a shame they cancelled it as it was such good fun. Our kids love it too. They've not watched Serenity though - we'll wait a few years. Waltons (or is it little house OTP?) - makes me think on Sunday mornings Love F1 theme too - Fleetwood Mac The Chain - goosebumps everytime. Spooks Black Books is such an original theme which goes so well with the programme. Watched it last night on Dave I think. Not seen it for ages. My fave episode is the drinking of the very expensive cellar erm . . . can't think of any more right now, but there are loads more I like.
