the man says NO

Recommended Posts

i went to chicken dave - the breeder yesterday, to help pick up some birds for friends, and i just cooed and aaahed over the wyandotte bantam chicks which he is bringing on (ready june), so i put my name down for 2 of them.

i got home and hubby says no...........BUT i have got 6 weeks to work on him haven't i???? :D:D:D

mind you he did also have another shock when i declared my ambitions for a large walk in run in the corner of the garden where nothing grows - so perhaps it was initial reaction

what shall i do????

Also a fair amount of using female wiles - heavy sighing, mooning around and leaving magazines with pictures of urban chickens also helped. You could withdraw some favours also like cooking .I found all these helped - made me feel better anyway cant speak for him

Suggest buying an emu or three - cry very hard when he says no - but then accept his decision. Then say, 'Okay, how 'bout 2 little bantams instead?'

If he says no again, remind him that hens are a marginally cheaper hobby than other things.

Have you tried writing to your MP? there's an election coming up..your story could end up in the Leicester Mercury, and you could be inundated by chickens :D

If you find the magic formula, let me know! DH still won't let me have two more chooks, despite the original deal being to get three and then get another three once I'd got used to looking after them.

If you sort out what works, please post it here, coz I could do with some help. I was due to get more chickens this April, but so far no joy.

Loving the replies on here! What a devious headstrong lot we are.

My OH says he knows better than to try and say no to me .... he knows I would just do it anyway!

So thats my advice - just do it anyway. Then when he complains say "But you AGREED! Don't you remember? Honestly, you never listen to a thing I say!" then flounce off in a huff. (Smugly victorious)

Whats all this 'he wont let me' business? Let you? He would rather you didn't get any more (for reasons unknown)

Ever heard of the emancipation of women?

The choice is 50% yours and as you are the ones who will be caring for them you get the final decision.

Just reading this thread has made me thankful for my great OH. He loves the hens as much, if not more than I do. (If that is possible). I have to say though that I would JUST DO IT if I were you. Will he be looking after them? I think not! When he tastes the eggs and see's their antics he will melt for sure. So get on with it girl and get those chooks. You will be doing the man a favour :dance::dance:

I also used to live with someone who always said no...... Not anymore thank goodness.
