Hung parliament

Recommended Posts

I was planning on staying up tonight to see if I've won any money but apparently 22 constituancies are not counting until tomorrow morning and Thirsk & Malton are not even voting until May 27th because one of the candidates has died.

Just imagine if it all hung(sorry) on that one constituency and we all had to wait till the end of the month :roll:

Our count doesn't start till tomorrow :(

I just did the party comparison questionaire and it didn't help much. It shows me to be the floating voter that I am. I agreed with about 50% of the three main parties policies  It showed that I matched by a fraction with the party that I usually vote for, but when I went throught the individual issues some of my agreement with the other main party in my area was on the issues that are the most important to me.

I am still floating in confusion.

It is a thought provoking election, I bet Tories and Labour regret inviting Lib Dems to the debates.

There are two things I am sure of: I don't want ID cards and I want to keep the British Army, I don't want to be part of a European Army.

Those two factors have helped me make my decision.

I've had my union on the phone to me making sure I've voted Labour  They don't know me at all

I read this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8661984.stm and had a chuckle. So if I'd worn an 'I love David Cameron' t-shirt I wouldn't have been allowed into the Polling Station :? Nor could I discuss my vote with my fellow voters :? I learn something new everyday!

 Will post here rather than start a new thread

Yesterday I contacted one of the local candidates on certain issues - expected no reply - but he e-mailed me at 11pm last night. 8) I supplied my telephone number so he could call me in person to discuss issues - and he has just phoned me :D . Answered all my concerns and impressed with the fact that he got back to me after a very last minute e-mail - needless to say he has my vote

We will be staying up for as long as it is interesting, which could be a long time, if we are to believe what we are being told. Our constituancy won't declare until tomorrow pm but it should make interesting viewing.

We may go to bed and put the TV on in there, but if we do I'll fall asleep, especially if have have received libation

Loving your new avatar OSH 8)

Oooh Southern Comfort - haven't had that for years. Enjoy!

Now Major I agree that's an awful lot of rope. But not all of them deserve it. Haven't gone out yet - probably nip out later on. Sort mother out at the same time.

Murray will probably be glued to the set and watch it in bed. I will no doubt do what I usually do and drop off to sleep even with the screen flashing away (can't sleep with the lights on usually).

I will miss Peter Snow's Swingometer. I used to enjoy seeing how excited he got from that set up.

That's impressive. Mine failed to answer a contact made a couple of weeks ago. I finally made up my mind last night, and filled in my postal vote* and took it in to the polling station this morning. Mine is worth about 0.5 of a vote as we are a marginal seat. Didn't want to take a risk on the post, and anyway, didn't make up my mind until last night.

*I have a postal vote because I didn't get to vote in the last election thanks to being in hospital - didn't want that to happen again.

.078 for Stratford........

Our MP resigned too late for the local party to choose their own shortlist of candidates so they had one foist upon them from above........they did include a local councillor after a bit of arm twisting, two women and an Iraqi Kurd. The Iraqi Kurd impressed and was adopted as candidate. He's not local but has moved into this area, has been out and about with a vengeance and has caused a furore in the local press :lol:

I was undecided until the moment I went to vote - I couldn't read all the leaflets as someone put them in the recycling :evil: I'd had to resort to reading manifestos online

I will be staying up to watch the 10pm BBC news and the local news too in the hope to spot the OH who is counting. I have dared him to wave at the cameras :lol::lol:

I must say that you look very happy that OH is away working!!

Stratford don't usually count until the next morning :( - but I shall still stay up to see results coming in......I'll probably make it until around 4am........I'll look out for your OH as well Em :)

I'm off to bed, and will know about it all tomorrow when it's fact rather than speculation.

I don' think it's the same without John Snow and his swinging arms. The graphics/cgi peeps are still treating it as a time to have fun with all their gizmos, given by the flying paving slab stuff.

Night all :-)
