RIP little Queenie the ex-barnie

Recommended Posts

Sorry to report we lost the first of our ex-barn chickens this morning, little Queenie. She had a lovely retirement with us, sadly just for six months, and only went downhill very quickly in the past few days. She had a large lump in her abdomen and we decided it was kinder to allow her to go to sleep before she suffered. In her memory here are a couple of pictures of her - the first, the day she arrived to live with us last November, and the second two taken just a couple of weeks ago as she kept me company in the shade of my table while I revised for my exams.

She was a lovely little character and I will always remember her lovely loud singing every time I went near their run.

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.

For all of the times that you have stooped and cuddled her,

fed her a favorite treat and returned the love that she gave to you.

For the care that you gave to her,

For all of these things she is grateful and thankful.

I'm so sorry, R.i.P. :(

Thank you so much for your lovely comments about Queenie. It's strange looking out at them in the garden and Queenie not being there. I'd recommend anybody adopt an ex working girl. They are such nice characters.
