Luvachicken
There are so many flies buzzing every where they are seriously getting on my nerves. They are all over the bark chippings, on my flowers, every where. They just buzz and fly and do other annoying things. I've hung up a jar with the vinegar and a bit of fairy liquid, I've hung up bits of material with citronella, lavender and eucalyptus oil on but still they come. Anybody have any more ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou
Blue-DiamondChick07
Yeah, I have the same problem I clean often too
Egluntyne
A **Flitrap** or a **Red Top Fly Catcher** should do the trick. The smell from the Flitrap is gross if you decide to empty it, but it doesn't particularly smell otherwise.
jellykelly
I can recommend the red top flap catcher. I brought mine about a week ago. At first I was disappointed as it didn't seem to do much, but now I've hung it in a sunny spot, it's kicking up a lovley tempting smell for the flies and it's catching them in they're hundreds! I will certainly be buying more in the near future.

Luvachicken
Can you use the red topped fly catcher more than once in that I could use it again next year and years to follow ?
Alis girls
What do you do with it once its full of dead flies I am thinking of getting one but wasnt sure if you chuck it or empty it dont really want to go there
Egluntyne
I only ever attempted to empty a Flitrap once. 'Nuff said. I have never smelt anything so disgusterous in all my life, and I'm no wimp. I'd chuck it.
AJuff
I used the milk bottle fly trap and when it's full you just need to take a deep breath and unscrew, screw the milk top back on and bin it. Simple. To use again a new milk bottle and some more fly attractant in the bottom and away you go!!
Reikiranf
I bought the fly trap when I first got my girls & tried emptying it but couldn't stand the smell so now I use an empty milk bottle that I make a few holes in with a screwdriver that I've heated on the hob, and when it's full I double bag it and put it in the rubbish. Alis girls
Nuff said - i just hope I can find a top - another question can u get refills of the stuff you mix with water? thanks I will be ordering one of these
Luvachicken
I'm a bit confused as to what the fly attractant is - is it the same vinegar and fairy liquid or have you emptied the fly stuff from something you have bought? I always have empty milk bottles with tops so look forward to making whatever it is you put in it.
Reikiranf
The bait I use is the stuff that came with my flitrap, it's a powder that you mix with water, it is fish based and smells vile so I don't know if you'd get the same effect with blood, fish and bone fertilizer. I know a few people have tried making a chicken poo soup But I don't think it worked very well, you need it to be watery though as the flies are attracted by the smell, find their way in and then can't get out & drown so you end up with dead fly soup!
