Explaining the forum to a stranger.........

Recommended Posts

The two friends who shared that trip with me I now meet up with frequently and will I think be friends for life.

Two friends I have met through the forum are on my 'top ten friends' list.

I find people are generally absolutely appalled when I tell them that I am meeting with people I know through the internet. It goes against absolutely everything we advice others not to do.

I've made some really good friends too.

One bonus is that they understand when you prattle on about your chooks  .... Oh, and we all seem to like homemade cake! :D

DH says I'm talking to the "chicken ladies" again. I do point out that they aren't all ladies but...

He definitely goes :roll: whenever I prefix a comment by "On the chicken forum....". But it is a great place. I wish I could meet up with more folk like you. It is a very good place to be, and a source of great advice about chickens and more besides.

I too have made some fantastic friends, several who I have now met.

I know when I went to visit PurpleTree first, Phil (OH) was very worried incase I was stepping into an axe murders house :anxious: Now we are all friends, Phil and PT's OH get on great, and I have actually been for a day out with PurpleTrees OH without her

In fact they came for a visit to me yesterday, along with some other fabulous friends

My Grandad still finds it hard to comprehend though that I have friends that I have never met, and marvels at the computer

We were staying with friends this weekend and I took them some eggs. We got to talking (like you do) about chickens and eggs and I mentioned the eggskelter. My friend knew about it and told me that her sister's friend down in Devon was the inventor. "Oh I know the inventor too," said I and then realised that I don't really and had to explain that I kind of "virtually" knew her. My friend was clearly getting more and more concerned about my obsession - I could tell from the pitying look on her face!

Anyway Freddie - we have a connection - isn't it a small world!?

Chicken's Anonymous looks like a good forum name, because most of us seem to say, 'a friend told me' or 'I read some where', or 'I heard this recently' etc. . My family are a bit  too and know when I start telling a tale where it has come from.

I am quite a loner by nature and only have few friends and a very close family, so this forum is lovely and the support and advice network is invaluable to many of us. Not to mention the cake recipes.

Six years for me

The first Omlet get-together was at my house, when the forum was still very small. There weren't many members and only about 10 of us as regular posters..........so I invited them over........

You can just imagine my OHs reaction  - and my grown-up children's reaction :lol: "you've invited people you don't know?.....off the internet?..... to our house???" OH was a complete wreck before they all came and both my children 'just happened' to be passing and had to call in to check we hadn't been murdered

I've made good friends from this forum :D
