Egluntyne
As I sat and had my lunch in the garden today I noticed a sparrow flying in and out of my very scruffy almost roofless shed. I peeped inside and could see that it had a nest on a shelf at the back. Will try to take a pic tomorrow. The snag is that we are having a bit of work done in the garden after Easter, and one of the more urgent tasks was to replace the shed! We will have to delay this bit of the job. Any idea when baby sparrows fly the nest??

Lesley
It isn't too long Egluntine - and you'll have fun watching the parents feeding the little ones We think the buzzards are nesting in the oak tree at the end of our plot I'll swap for your sparrows

AnnieP
We've got a robin's nest in our greenhouse. They hatched yesterday! 5 tiny little mouths and pink skin! Mum is quite happy to sit on the nest whilst I potter around inside! Its . I just hope when they are fully fledged they don't fly into the glass.... A very good excuse to not wash it all down, which I was going to do this week!

I don't have to worry about the baby sparrows flying into the glass.....as the window went long ago....2 sons plus football being the cause. Replaced it about 4 times before I gave up. The new shed will be windowless as they still knock a football about aged 21 and 17! Lovely to hear about your robins AnnieP. We have a very friendly one in our garden. Just the sight of him cheers me up.
Christian
We put up 4 next boxes last year and they are still nesting in 2 of our porches, the old disused chimney and the eaves of the roof! They can't get in the loft so i'm not too worried. Bought OH a robins nest box as part of his Christmas pressie last year, as it reminds him of his Dear departed Dad. We do have a robin that visits, but hasn't nested yet! I love them, they are so inquisitive! Good luck with your sparrows Egluntine!
hillfamily
We're very lucky and get a few nests each year in the conifers and clematis at the end of the garden. Last year our little robin kept coming along for some mealworms and on one day I was a little late putting them out and so he flew in the open back door and sat on the kitchen table just to remind me
Cinnamon
We mostly get blue tits & great tits in our boxes, but last year we had a wren nesting in the honeysuckle right by the house. She was sooooooooooo tiny, & really adorable This year we have owl babies down the bottom of the garden too
Egluntyne
Last summer I was sitting in a garden chair, reading...legs outstretched, and feet crossed at the ankles when the robin landed on my foot. I was thrilled to bits! He was not a bit afraid of the hens and was often in their enclosures cheeky as you like.

Egluntyne
Very poor pic of nest. On shelf on right here If you look through the open door of the house you can see my wellies! ( and the untidy corner of my kitchen! )
Lesley
I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't said We have yellowhammers nesting somewhere - they keep stealing the chickens feed and they all start sqwarking
Looney
A pair of collared doves have decided to build a rather precarious looking "nest" (pile of sticks ) behind our satellite dish.....there are two little white eggs in it. OH is so excited!
chocchick
Does it affect the reception? We went to the Trafford centre on Saturday, and there were big gold bird decorations on the outside of the building very high up (near John Lewis). One of them had a collection of large twigs on it and had been turned into a nest, we were amused, although it looked like a big bird.
