Griffin
I enjoyed seeing the smugness wiped from her chops I think she's got the same problems to overcome that the other tall ladies on there have had to, getting those never ending legs under control. It's a shame Kara got her shoe caught but other than that I was really impressed by her.
Lavenders_Blue
I was impressed with Kara, especially given how she got her shoe caught. It could have really put her off and ruined the rest of her routine but she recovered well and performed a stonking dance! I was really underwhelmed by Michelle, I couldn't agree more with Len who said she was dancing on stilts. You could see Brendan was really wound up by it but it was a fair comment. Alis girls
I agree - Michelle was a bit up her own bottom wasnt she. I was mildy irritated by the Eastender actress too. Glad she fell over her tail silly moo. Gavin is growing on me I like his goofy grin.
Chucky Mama
Widders was awesome Great TV.
The Dogmother
Loved it. Ann Widdecombe is an absolute belter. Her repartee with the judges was hilarious. I love her too. Didn't get to watch either, but will catch them on iplayer tonight when I'm doing the ironing and mending.
susanbb
The Widders seems to be really enjoying herself ,whereas the others are being sooo competetive . Got to admit that her banter with the judges is fab
Gelbel
Here's what I thought Got to love Ann Widdecombe - what a trooper. She does have a disadvantage on top of all those obvious ones - she is too short for Anton. Before last night I thought that Gavin Henson would be awful and I am so surprised to admit I was wrong. And wasn't Pamela Stephenson a relevation? Poor James always gets the older ladies - they might be older ladies who can, but they'll never go far. I loved Flavvia's hair - so much so that I am seriously thinking of having mine done like it (I'm booked in for the full works before our holidays at the end of the month). I thought she was very clever with Jimi - giving him a sort of eastern style of cha cha cha. He does have potential. As does Scott - but I think his Latin will let him down. Loved Matt - his hands were exceptional. But you can keep him ladies - there is no real phwoar factor for me this year. Tina and that young American chap - like candyfloss - all overly sweet and no susbstance. Patsy Kensit - sorry, I have to say - she's bit lumpy. And how clingy is she? No wonder she marries everything that moves. I want to tell her to get a grip. I thought that Kara was very good - and I was thinking there was a definite case of pride coming before a fall. Michelle will soon get voted off for being an over-confident, look at me, little madam. I wish two could go next week - get rid of her and make Paul Daniels vanish. And the rest - all very forgetful really. Roll on tomorrow evening for It Takes Two to start - outshines Strictly by a country mile IMHO. Seagazer
I enjoyed Saturday night's show too. Widders was so entertaining, we laughed so much when she was talking to the judges. I was a little disappointed by Jimmy Mistry, I don't think his long shirt helped as it covered up any hip action he had. Gavin was a surprise, I haven't really liked him up until now but thought he danced really well. Loved Kara (mainly because of her partner) it was a shame because she danced so well. Agree with what others have said about Michelle, still it is early days.
MarkBevBen
I just made a post and our interweb went down some reason and lost it, so here goes again with our two-penneth! Gavin turned out to be a lot better than we thought he'd be. Loved Kara's cha-cha-cha and thought it was the best of the evening, she recovered so well when she caught her heel in her dress. I had no idea, but my friend just said she was on the Sport Relief 'Strictly' contest and she won so does that give her a bit of an advantage over the others? Mind you, the likes of Felicity, Tina, Patsy, Michelle, Scott etc are actors and a singer so are they equally at an advantage?? Didn't take to Michelle at all - she was all over the place. Not sure what it is, but I can't see the public warming to her either. I agree with the above comment about Tina - all fluff and no substance thought she may have been a bit better really. Peter did okay bless him, loved the sparkly football on his jacket And finally our Ann bit of a nervous start then she picked up a bit didn't she....then.... I think we've got another 'John Sargent' on our hands here and I bet the public will keep voting her back. We also noticed about the height difference between her and Anton, but he's so lovely and he's doing a grand job! Can't wait to see their Salsa! Have to say, loving the costumes so far this year - wonder if they've got a new designer or something? They've been totally awesome, especially Matt's country theme and how they've incorporated the celebrities jobs/personalities into their outfits, I think it's lovely Thought Tess looked much better last night with her purple dress. MarkBevBen
I get fed up of people booing Craig R-H. Okay he's a bit of a grumposaurus but usually his criticisms are intended to help the dancer improve e.g. hand placements or footwork. I suppose he just needs to choose his words and tone of voice a little more carefully sometimes. I reckon it's all part of the 'Mr Nasty act' and they've probably told the audience to boo him! MarkBevBen
I loved Bruno's analogy of Ann - the Ark Royal!
Jennifer Jane
I loved Matt, and Pamela made me cry, though I am waiting to see how she gets on in Latin. Kara was good, shame about the costume malfunction. I was disappointed by Felicity, I thought she would be excellent, but it's early days. I agree that Ann's salsa will be "interesting". Can they not giver her better costumes though, and some decent foundation wear? Can't wait for next week.
Plum
Oh dear better send for Gwok. Sorry but you need Craig. He can get to the route of what is happening with their dancing and they can learn from it. Yes he could flower it up a bit but we love someone to hate. Seagazer
We love Craig in this house. He actually talks sense and it really annoys us that the audience shouts him down. He does usually follow bad news with good news, unless they are really bad. Unfortunately he didn't with Patsy and I do think she needs all the building up with confidence that she can get. C&T
Agree with most of the above. I just can't WAIT to see Ann's Salsa next week - that promises to be fantastic! Anton really does have his work cut out! But I admit, I'll vote for her - if nothing else she has the right attitude, of just going out and enjoying herself!! A much better approach than Michelle, who can't leave soon enough for me!
The Dogmother
Is Michelle the black singer with endless legs? I saw bits on iplayer last night - great pins on her but what an attitude I thought that the chap called Matt was very good; looks to have danced before, and a couple of others too. Gavin Henson was hopeless and far too full of himself/attitude for my liking; I don't think he'll be as popular as he'd like to be!
susanbb
looking forward to "It takes Two" tonight on BBC2. Always entertaining.
chickencam
I missed the first 3 dances on friday, picking YD up from a school disco Of those that I saw, I thought Matt was the best. I will be rooting for him this year. On Saturday the standard seemed lower, so dispite her shoe moment, Kara stood out a mile. She has a lovely figure for the costumes and she seems very good, it is hard to start with the latin too. Ann Widdecome was a bit painful to watch and she is way too short to be dancing with Anton. Michelle needs to be taken away and given a few decent meals. She has very long legs but they have no shape because she is painfully thin, her head looks too big for her body which never looks healthy to me. She is also too full of herself, although I do think that a lot of that is bluster to cover her nerves. Pail Daniels was better than i thought that he would be, but that wasn't saying much, I think that the male viewers need to make the most of Ola because I don't think that they will be there for long. Gavin danced quite well, but I still don't warm to him. I think Craig is there for a balance of sweet and sour and I think that he means well in his way. I love Strictly and I will be watching Take Two whenever I can.
The Dogmother
It seems that that Matt bloke used to be a gymnast, hence his poise and back flips. Linky to article ETA link that I couldn't find first time around!
docsquid
Yes, Matt Baker grew up on a farm, was a gymnast, then presented Blue Peter before he started on Countryfile. And I think he has the Phwoar! factor
CallyChook
thanks Egluntyne for linking/sending me here :D I must have been blind coz looked in the last weeks post for this thread!!! Ohhhhhh strictly, you make me smile, you warm the cockles of my heart as much has a hug with my Croad ever could I can appreciate Gavin as eye candy, I just dont listen to a word he's saying.. I dont mind the overgroomed look and always imagine there are ways to shut that kind of man up Matt Baker, I like him more now that he can dance, I always think he's a bit of a wet blanket on countryfile/blue peter. Saying that, I am a Greater Packham Swooner, so another man close to nature goes down well in this household!! Can't wait for this week, baby is due on saturday but nothing will stop me tuning in!! MedusA
As soon as I saw the line up I knew Matt Baker would be my fave. I love him on Countryfile and Secret Britain. I had no idea he was such a good dancer. He's even getting me to warm to Aliona who I couldn't stand last year. Poor Ola-chops has no chance this year. Ann and Anton are a very entertaining combination. Pamela and James looked lovely together. I think they will do well. I quite like the geek-chic of the very young new professional from USA. Even if I am virtually old enough to be his grandmother.
