Yes, you did read that right - tomorrow evening we, and a few friends, will be having a Garden Party!

 

Burgers and sausages on the BBQ, Parsnip soup and Irish Stew on the burner, and chestnuts and marshmallows over a roaring brazier!

 

And the answer to the burning question is.........YES - I am completely potty!

It' standard practice in Canada. We stayed in a ski chalet last year and on every balcony was a barbecue - so in the midst of the worst blizzard in 20 years in Ontario - we too had a barbecue! Of course, we sent the men out to cook - but there was no shortage of volunteers!

A couple of years ago CTB decided he wanted to have bbq kebabs for Christmas dinner - so there he was out in the garden in the freezing cold and pouring rain barbequing under a tarpaulin - nutter

I remember a few years ago when OH and his parents had a BBQ for x-mas dinner. OH and his dad are both mental pyromaniacs so they were totally happy, and it gave his mum a year off doing the cooking

I cooked a goose on our bbq last Christmas - it's in use all year round. Much better than my oven which I now only use for baking cakes. And the bbq is much easier to clean!

Ummm More often then I clean my oven

 

All it gets is a scrub with the metal brush on the grill bars and the fat drip tray gets emptied. Hopefully before it overflows

We have had BBQs on boxing day before, its nice to know we aren't the only nutters out there.

Earlier in the year, in the first heavy snow, DH had a spit roast BBQ of pork... like a hog roast. We have a fab picture of it in the snow. If you can tell me how to easily post a photo I'll show you.

 

You won't be surprised to know that we have 5 BBQ's for all sorts of occassions and DH still looks at more winter is nothing to his BBQ obsession
