Panic buying

Recommended Posts

Tell me about it

People were buying HEAPS of stuff last night at work - all the bread was gone by 4ish.

I have my lasy shift tonight from 5-8,so I am expecting more of the same.....

At least we have had deliveries though though :D

Its quite a nice place to work this time of year,as the customers are mostly pretty jolly,if a bit shell shocked

I must admit I did a bigger shop than usual on Monday. Normally I go to Waitrose every couple of days as it's close and friendly but the difficulty parking when I drove in on Monday made me decide to shop for the week. I've never managed to use a large trolley at Waitrose though. It's lovely knowing I don't need to brave the hordes food shopping.

LMW and I went to Tesco's today and it was chaos, we had a job to get a parking space ( some of the spaces were occupied by large mounds of snow) and some of the aisles were chaos. There was plenty of bread and milk though. Mr W has just gone to pick up a few bits,he failed to tell me we were running out of a few things ( I have been away for a few days so am unaware of what he has munched his way through in my absence!)

It was a funny old evening - very busy from 5 - 7,then a big lull, then mad again from 7.45 until closing.

Actually,until after closing....................

A pain in the bum man kept us waiting until he had done his shopping, despite being told to go to a till. He came to me at 8.15, which is 15 minutes after we had shut,& even then he had to be told to go to a till NOW or he would not be able to make his purchase

Then he kept wandering off to get more stuff.................you could go right off some people

Finished my shift 25 minutes late in the end :evil::evil:

I posted this on facebook, so some of you will have read about it already.

I had a joyful Christmas Experience a couple of days ago when a horrid example of the Small Man Syndrome barged me out of the way at a checkout.

I rose above it in a dignified manner and said nothing, but fixed him with my hardest stare.

I could not conceal my delight when he realise that he had forgotten his wallet.

Karma.

and it's still making me smile :D:D:lol:

Sarah, how annoying....I hope you packed his breakables for him? atthe bottom of the bag!!

I suppose if you're the one doing the catering for 20 then your trolley would look like panic buying? - I had a friend who always moaned about the full trolleys before Christmas but it's no good saying the shops are open again on Boxing Day if you're the one needing to feed the five thousand the day before! - and he wasn't the one who ever cooked the Christmas meal  , he went to his Mother's

Oh Eglutyne dont get me started on bad manners - thats it rant coming up. Was standing in the basket only queue in waitrose (renamed basket cases only methinks) and this posh Aussie woman and husband in front and must have had someone they knew behind me as she kept saying "come on put your stuff in our basket" She was called Sheila I suspcet as her OH kept calling her "She" then she barged about and knocked into me and no sorry so I pulled myself up to my full 5ft 9 and growled "CAREFUL" and scowled at her. She looked shocked and did say sorry but wouldnt have had I not glared at her. I look pretty menacing in my nurses uniform and parka (think hattie Jacques only a size 14) Honestly no wonder Uk is going down the pan with people like that around.

It may also be the case that the shelves are empty because the shops are not getting their deliveries. Our local co-op had no potatoes yesterday as their deliveries are not getting through. They had signs up. Luckily I'd already got mine.

My OH went out the other night to finish getting odd bits and bobs, we always say we're not going to over buy but he came back with so many goodies  I bet a couple of days after Christmas he will be moaning about putting on weight.
