Well my hoover semi died on me, i can use it on hard floors not on carpet. A right pain but i couldn't find the receipt anywhere but know there is a 5yr guarantee. Well i rung them, gave them the hoovers id number and after me telling them i couldn't remember where i purchased it (somewhere online) and couldn't find the receipt they said that model was made in 2008 so my guarantee could run from then and they are sending the bit i need

I seem to remember them doing something similar for me a few years ago . Great customer service .

My Dyson is fab. I have dropped it, blown up (yes really, flames and everything) the motor and generally trashed it but it refuses to give up on me.

I have one of the smaller models and it was brilliant when I first got it but I am not as impressed now. I think that there may be something wrong with it. After reading these rave reviews about Dyson customer service I am going to give them a call

Book a service - it's not cheap but we got almost every part replaced for a standard cost. Service guy was great. You do have to pay extra for a new filter.

 

Like a new machine again and has continued to perform well ever since despite plaster dust etc

I actually got a call last week from a local hoover repair firm offering a service for £15 (Dyson must have given them customer details). Unfortunately, a few parts did need replacing so it cost me £90 in total but it's a 4 yr old hoover which only cost me £200 from Amazon and they're £300 now so I reckon it's worth it.

giving the filter a good wash every few weeks makes a big difference, especially if you have fine dust like wood ash to clean up.

The nice thing about the Dyson service is it is the same cost however much needs replacing. In my case it was almist everything

I love my Dyson - apart from it biting me - it gives me electric shocks now and again. Or perhaps it's me giving it electric shocks - I have a tendency to zap people without hoover in hand. Although I think it's the rubbish carpet's fault really.

Ouch! I agree about rubbish carpets - I got one with a high nylon content and was forever blaming the hoover until I figured it out. I get the odd shock on that one too, it's fine everywhere else.

I too have to sing the praises of Dyson customer services.

 

My machine has stopped sucking up and obviously had a blockage in the pipe. I checked and although I am within the 5 year guarantee period (just) it doesn't cover blockages. So I rang them to see if they had any tips on how to unblock it as it was in a totally inaccessible place near to the electrics - as I have a motorhead model...

 

As a gesture of goodwill they are going to replace the whole part as they didn't want me to poke anything in the pipe in case I hurt the electrics or myself. Given that its an electrical part and massive thats not a cheap option and it was offered without question. IMPRESSED

Is it the really lightweight purple and white model? I've only had mine a few months and thought it was great, I really like Dysons and had a larger model before LSH broke it. We now have separate vacuum cleaners and I thought this one would be handy for me, it's no trouble to empty more frequently.

Now the suction is very low, and I can't think why. I'll be interested to hear how you get on, I keep looking at mine wondering if I've forgotten something.

I love my dysons!!! Yes Dysons as I have an upright downstairs and an animal upstairs . . well it saves carrying up and down the stairs . . . . and two people can vacuum at the same time if they want . . . . .

I think our Dyson's had almost all of it's parts replaced .... for free though in the guarantee! I didn't know James Dyson was from Cromer.... thats only about 30 miles from me!

Well what can I say....

We have had our Dyson for 16 years!! And all I do is wash the filter out once a month

 

We have used it to hoover up soot, cement, bricks, even hoovered the eglu/cube out with it.....

...and my lightweight model has come back to life with a thorough clean of both filters, I'd missed the second one before. They probably need washing more frequently than the full size model but it's an easy job.
