westie mum
Just received through the post a letter from Argos thanking me for applying ( they had accepted) for an Argos card. I had not applied for this card and gave them a ring. Apparently since the beginning of January thay have had loads of fraudulent applications, she asked me if I was a company director, I said yes, and she said that they were getting details from Companies House, she mentioned that it would be an organised gang. Argos had accepted the application even though they had put no bank details on it, the cheeky so & so's had even ordered some goods. They have now set up something where if credit is applied for in my name it will flag up and I will get a phone call asking if I have made the application. So people who own companies please be aware

The Dogmother
Looks like Argos are so keen to get people to sign up to their Argos card that they are not carrying out the necessary checks!
bluekarin
Oh My! We are on companies house, so thanks for the heads up. They have now set up something where if credit is applied for in my name it will flag up and I will get a phone call asking if I have made the application. So people who own companies please be aware Is Argos doing this?
WitchHazel
Thanks for the headsup. It's about time I checked our credit files anyway, so I've ordered them. It's worth the £2 just for peace of mind.
Valkyrie
I think anyone can look at Companies House and find out who the directors are, so the crims may just be viewing random company details. But thanks for the head's up - will get OH to look into that when he comes home tomorrow.
Egluntyne
I think you have to pay for the information.
