chickenNutter
All the very best of Omlet vibes - went through this with ES (who got in with a music scolarship and is in his final year). Best decision we ever made, even though we are now officially skint! Just keep her calm tomorrow morning and act like its no big deal.

ubereglu
Good luck. Hope she does really well. It's nerve-wracking isn't it! I am currently still waiting to hear from Durham University to see whether they'll give me an offer for starting there this October. I've had my other 4 offers through, but this is the one I REALLY want!
Mrs Webmuppet
Thank you everyone. She said she thinks she has done ok. We now have to wait until mid February to hear if she has got a place.

Aunty e
Eeep! I did that, got a scholarship and all well (although very skint parents by the end). My little brother did too, and it was officially a good thing. Is it silly that I'm already bricking it for the 11+ for Mog (and Teddy)? There are two grammar schools in Redbridge, one for each sex, so very very competitive at the 11+. Apparently there is rampant cheating and tutors for the exam are booked up years in advance (Mog's grandparents are both teachers at independent schools, so I shall be enlisting help there). Don't want to be a pushy parent, but I have seen the difference a good school can make! Best of luck for the little miss!
Mrs Webmuppet
Hi Aunty e, we tutored LMW ourselves using books that we got off Amazon. It helped that I am reasonably good at maths and verbal reasoning problems......the OH is good at english. Of course it also helped that LMW really wanted to do well in the exam so was prepared to knuckle down.
chickencam
We tutored our children too, it was enjoyable quality time with each of them. We were able to identify weak areas easy and quickly, we could then work on them as we went along. We bought loads of books and did all of the practice papers with them under exam conditions. This helped us to get a feel for how difficult they were and made it easier to go through the paper at the end. We liked the competition too. I think that my OH was quite shocked that I kept pace with him, he has a degree I don't, so I got some extra respect as a result.
Mrs Webmuppet
LMW had a total mental block when it came to long division.........in the end I made it into a little story and eventually she understood it. Strangely enough the old fashioned methods of doing maths made more sense to her than some of the new fangled ways they teach in school. My Dad is a whizz at maths and also spent hours with her. Old Speckled Hen
Fingers crossed XXXXX Can I also say Thank God for you lot. It's private tuition that's keeping my daughter fed. A first at Cambridge and she wants to act/direct so she teaches and works hard for a break and lives on soup. Where did I go wrong?????
