docsquid
Despite having had chickens laying eggs for me for well over a year, in a variety of sizes, shapes and colours, I am totally and unexpectedly over-excited at the first from our cream legbar, Cori. It is her first egg, and I was that it would be a - and it is! I've been doing the egg dance! Edited February 3, 2011 by Guest

docsquid
Thank you! No, I don't know how I'll eat it. It really is a definite and deep blue, too. I nearly fainted when I saw it in the nest box!

chicken bark
That is a lovely blue egg. I know what you mean about being excited. I'm showing my blue eggs to anyone who passes by. After I got my first one about a week ago both my CLBs are laying (and my ducks have started too) so now there is definite colour shift on my egg skelter. It was all brown and now the brown egg layers are struggling to keep up!
Snoxy
Very similar blue to the blue eggs my Skyline/Columbine Daphne lays...never want to crack hers either Your eggs look gorgeous on the egg skelter
Sue
Thats a really nice colour blue egg. I am waiting for my first ever blue egg layers in a couple of weeks. Cream Legbars - I hope their eggs are as nice as yours. I makes a lovely selection with your other eggs All the best Sue
Purplemaniacs
What a beautiful blue egg. I love the mixture of colours, they look so lovely on the egg skelter. I have noticed that the colours on mine have varied over the winter, early on it was white, green, and blue/green, later on it was almost all white, no brown ones at all, now it is some brown and some white no blue/green ones of any shade. Daisy who lays white eggs laid yesterday, the first this year, Marshmallow my other white layer has laid on and off all winter. Looking forward to the lighter days and more eggs Chrissie
docsquid
Definitely looking forward to more eggs - I've had two more already - am now looking forward to seeing what colour the eggs from the Elun, the CLB x Marans come out - in theory they should be olive, but I don't mind what colour they are really. She looks ready to lay soon as her wattles have got much darker and larger in the last few days, and her face is redder too. The egg-skelter looks great as I have a range from dark speckled brown (Blodwyn our Pepperpot) to little white ones (Gwladys the silkie frizzle) and of course the from Cori! chestnutmare
You have a rainbow of eggs! A beautiful egg and a beautiful girl who laid it too. Your egg skelter looks very impressive. Mine never has enough eggs on it!
mollyripkim
Your eggs are beautiful and a lovely girl as well. How brilliant to have the coloured eggs
Lorax
Gorgeous eggs. Our columbine has just started laying, her eggs are blue - they are - but very very pale. I wonder if they'll darken up. I want a pure white layer next (white star?). Today was the first day we had one egg from each hen - all in the nesting box too!
Snoxy
WOW what a very pretty hen When Mildred (Skyline/Columbine) started laying her eggs they were that dark but they are now a beautiful pastel green. Lorax...I have 2 white stars (RIP Phoebe) and I adore them...they lay large, white eggs (Stella always lays extra large and Harriet lays either a large or extra large egg) every day...they are AMAZING in my opinion Can't imagine my flock without a white star hybrid hen. docsquid
Thank you everybody I think Elun is really lovely. The photo doesn't show how her plumage almost takes on a partridge type marking on her back in the sunshine. They are all lovely girls! It's great to have such a variety of eggs - just a shame to eat them
