lougarbard
I am getting so many eggs at the moment, I was going to start selling some to family and friends. What price per half dozen do you think for mid to large? I will just keep the tiny banty ones. I gave a couple of half dozens away to friends the other week, 5 mediums and 1 banty, neither of them ate the banty egg, because they said it didnt seem right, looked abnormal!!! I found that very strange, what weirdos!!! lol
grageomat
i have no idea on the price i sometimes sell 6 medium to large or 5 and 2 banty for £1 but i think thats a bargain!! and yes they are weirdos i like a banty egg sometimes its just the perfect size! scarlettohara
My Mum loves the banty eggs and always asks for them but yes people are weird. I charge £1 for 1/2 dozen big eggs, but they are going up to £1.20 as the Garvo has gone up too
chestnutmare
Aren't the nicer/happy/free range eggs at least £1.50+ in the supermarket, per half dozen? Then I'd say 1.50 is a good price for eggs from such well looked after hens.
Eggasperated
I occasionally sell half a dozen eggs and I charge £1.20, out of interest I had a look at supermarket eggs today and was surprised how much they are especially the organic. But I don't think I'll be putting my price up (mind you I have kept a running total of my actual price per egg to produce and including housing and fencing as well as normal day to day expenses it's far in excess of £1.20 per egg ). Cinnamon
£1.50 for 6 here
cooker
I charge £1 half dozen, we sell 4/5 boxes per week which just about covers their food, but medications, cleaners, (housing extensions!) etc all come out of our pockets, there is definately no profit at £1 per box. Maybe I should put our prices up! People always say they would pay more, but I think I'd feel bad asking for more! Rachel
rufusrooster
my OH, works at a school and sells them for £1.50 / 6, when we have enough to spare, does seem quite a lot when you see what you can buy them for, but they do appreciate them and are more than happy to pay it. Gertie
I've been selling mine at school for £1 per 6. I cannot keep up with demand! I sell then for £1 because sometimes they have poo on! No one seems to care!
gongladosh
I sell my spares at £1 for 6. I reckon that's very cheap- how many eggs do most people eat where they get to know the name of the hen that laid it (or even see a photo of the hen!) Lewis
£1.50 for 6 When we start charging, and have hens that lay!
daxigirl
Someone at work who has chooks has put her prices up to £1.50 for 6 (they're not fancy colours or anything).
miller30
I charge £1.50 for 6 duck eggs and a £1.00 for 6 chicken eggs and i think i will charge £1.00 for 12 bantam eggs as they are tiny this is my first year with bantams does anyone know if that is about the right price for pekin eggs thanks leanne
Omletina Kyckling
I charge £1.50 for 6, and people often ask me if I'm sure that's enough as the eggs are so good!
Snoxy
I charge £1.25 for a mixed box of medium, large and extra large eggs. Each half dozen will be a mix of colours inc. blue, pastel green, sage green, beige, white, brown in varying shades. In order to get as many boxes back as possible I give 5p off for every box that is returned in a re-usable condition...sometimes I even get the elastic bands back too and small plastic bags which are useful
thenewchick
£1.50 for 6 extra special Princess eggs - I think thats a bargain as everyone says they taste GREAT!!!
Snoxy
thinking about putting price up...but don't want to put people off...although I have never advertised my girls eggs...new customers come via word of mouth...maybe just a rise of 20p
docsquid
I'll probably do boxes of 4 - at £1 for two large (and they are whoppers), 1 medium and 1 bantie. Everybody likes our bantie eggs, as they are extra tasty. We have 7 in lay now, so could start doing this for a few selected neighbours and friends. Cinnamon
I gave away a box via Freegle this week, as I had 2 boxes on the side plus a full egg skelter But then I sold 3 too,so am back to normal quantities now That is what having 5 hens in lay does...and I have 4 laying holiday girls coming soon too! Snoxy
One of my customers likes only medium size eggs as she likes to bake with them...and I include an egg laid by Minnie as her son likes those I have a new customer this week who usually buys extra large for around £1.70-£1.80...we have agreed a price of £1.60...sure they will taste better than her usual eggs so really should have charged her more....but it's not about the money I just want another customer to taste how lovely my girls eggs are
Lewis
I charge £1.50 for 6 duck eggs and a £1.00 for 6 chicken eggs and i think i will charge £1.00 for 12 bantam eggs as they are tiny this is my first year with bantams does anyone know if that is about the right price for pekin eggs thanks leanne Thats a steal! £1 for 12 bantie eggs, they're small but not that small. I'd dor £1 for 6, maybe even £1.50 still, even if they are banties, esp after all they put the same (if not more ) effort into laying them
Cinnamon
In the 3 years I had Bants & never, not once, sold a box of their eggs People much preferred the larger hens eggs,in the pretty colours.
Bramble
Im too scared to charge anything for my eggs !! I don't eat them myself (never really liked eggs ) so give them away in omlet boxes of four. At the moment I am getting 2 or 3 eggs a day so I have quite a lot to give away, everyone says the eggs are so much nicer than the shop bought ones, which I guess is reward enough as I have the fun of the chucks as pets ! All my 'customers' know they don't get a refill unless they return the boxes though
abwsco
I used to charge £1.00 but I've put the prices up to £1.50 after having to buy eggs over winter and seeing how dear they were.
