Dizzy-Deb
Hi I have used the Stalosan F and need to replace now.. but have seen mention of Biodry. Which is the best do you think ?? thanks xx
daxigirl
Biodry user here, never tried Stalosan. Happy enough with using it. Girls don't seem to be bothered by it. No real smell, scatters well.
The Dogmother
I've used both and stick with BioDri as I found that Stalosan was very light and tended to blow everywhere, including up my nose!
Jools
I've only used Stalosan so far - is there a difference between the two or are they pretty much the same thing?
The Dogmother
I think they do roughly the same job of disinfecting, but the BioDri is less powdery (more sort of crystalline) and doesn't blow about when I sprinkle it down. I quite like the smell of Stalosan, BioDri doesn't have any smell at all.
Chortle Chook
I've used both and stick with BioDri as I found that Stalosan was very light and tended to blow everywhere, including up my nose! No mites up there then
Space Chick
I have used both but prefer BioDri
Tutti Frutti
I have a huge tub of Stalosan but don't actually like the smell! I found this website recently, comparing the two... http://forums.thepoultrykeeper.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=29530

coco
I have used both but prefer biodry as stalosan tens to blow everywhere and doesn't taste very nice when you get it blown in your face.

Valkyrie
After buying a huge tub of Stalosan (biggest I'd ever, ever seen), I tried Bio dry. I like both though. But I'm going through the Stalo before I go on to Bio. I do like the smell of Stalo too.
The Dogmother
It smells sort of like Germolene, doesn't it? I like the smell just not the texture and lightness of it. I use BioDri in the bunnies litter tray and also a sprinkle in the bottom fo the kitchen bin and the wheelie bins - keeps them all lovely and fresh. Valkyrie
Ah, I guess it's a similar formula then. Coz I likes Germolene too. That used to be pink too - in those little cute tins that you couldn't open easily!
The Dogmother
YES! I still have one of the old tins too, just love the styling and the smell.
Chortle Chook
If Stalosan really hurts when it gets up one's nose then surely it can't be all that good for the chooks either Excuse my ignorance over this, but what actually are Bio Dry and Stalosan for? I couldn't seem to find either on the Omlet shop.
The Dogmother
I haven't noticed them sneezing, but Stalosan does blow about a bit when you sprinkle it in the run. They are both powdered livestock disinfectants which will stop the build-up of any bacteria or intestinal worm eggs in the run or housing. Both are also excellent at drying up dampness which can cause smells. There are some helpful links in this thread which explain it better than I can. beach chick
I've still got lots of stalosan to use up, but I found it made the bedding in my WIR look really dirty because everything went pinky-brown. so once finished I'm going to give bio dry a go... Pretty impressed with service had when ordered it, did it through ebay yesterday, and should have been delivered today but at work so managed to online move it to tomorrow when at home. Shame cant find it locally and had to mail order but as said great service from company supplying
