Friday 13th happenings?

Recommended Posts

so far to me:-

Some money promised to the firm that I do credit control for didn't arrive as promised, they missed off the biggest payment, soon told them off and have now been promised it by Tuesday. Our cashflow is awful at the moment, so didn't need that :?

The dough hook on my Kenwood sheered off about a minute into kneading 1kg of dough and I had to finish it by hand and I am tired out now. I will have to work out how to get the broken bit out of the top of the machine. :(

Oh and I have a headache :x

I don't normally "do" the friday the 13th thing, but I'm starting to wonder about today ...

So far, I got more than half way to work this morning before realising I had forgotten something crucial so had to go all the way back again (so much for the planned early start).

Having a generally not very nice day at work and there's stuff later that I'm dreading too ...

Stop the world, I want to get off ... :boohoo:

DD woke in a bad mood screamed from waking to been dropped off at my parents. Forgot breakfast so stopped off at shop to get a nana, got to work dropped nana and stood on if. Waited all morning for URGENT sample to turn up, still waiting and its too late to test anyway. Just gone to get packing up out of bag and its in DD bag at my parents

Sad thing is it's a normal day for me.

Headache

Lost my house & car keys. Looked for them for half an hour. Found them on top of the Cube, where they had been all night

A promised & much anticipated cheque didn't arrive in the mail as promised, meaning we can now not pay our tax bill & will be charged interest.

The washing machine is making a funny noise.

Burnt my hand on some hot fat, which is now blistering up nicely.

And my youngest girl finishes school FOR EVER today,so therefore I must officially be old :?

I don't normally subscribe to the idea either, but here are my travails...

DD woke up this morning with a total grump on, has gone to school without saying goodbye and has left her keys at home!

Boss's Blackberry has packed up, so have spent (wasted) all morning fishing through the spare one to find one which works - total waste of time and I hate mobiles anyway.

I have washing out and it now looks like raining :( ... please hold on until I get home to take it in at lunchtime.

I don't like Friday 13th, but I did manage to have a baby on Friday 13th November 1998 and survived the experience, so i figured since that if i can do that I can do anything, but this day isn't going so well.

I hope that your day improves Bramble, often the things we dread are no where near as bad as we thought. Good Luck

I'm not the only one then.

That will be me in a years time Sarah, ED finishes for study leave today, for her AS's

Had a broken filling redone and apparently the nerve was slighly exposed, so could be in for a weekend of pain. Given prescription for antibiotics just in case though don't see how they will help. Feels OK so far but have taken lots of pain relief anyway - please send me some good vibes

Nuffink. Just sat here wibbling and waiting for the phone to ring because my gorgeous scruffy dog Ella is at the vets getting her leg fixed. She's dislocated a bone, the equivilent of the bone that runs from your wrist to your little finger. It's out at the wrist joint and the vet doesn't know if it'll stay in place once he's put it back, she might need it pinned.

Wibble.

I'd take some Ibuprofen or similar before the local anaesthetic wears off, apparently you have a much better chance of being pain free if you take painkillers before you are in pain, if you know what I mean. I know what you'll say, you don't want to take painkillers if they're not necessary, but nor do you want to be in pain over the weekend!!!!! Good luck!!

Griffin - fingers crossed for Ella, that sounds very painful, but i'm sure she'll be fine

Oh, I forgot... how COULD I forget...?

Just got out of the shower this morning when the doorbell went (why does it always do that?) grabbed a bathrobe and ran down. Neighbour banging on the door, obviously distraught; conversation goes as follows:

N: there's a dead cat under a car over the road

CT: Is there? Not one of mine I hope (as I said this I realised that mine were both upstairs, sleeping)

N: no, but it's dead, what should we do?

(why do people always ask me stuff like this? I have been midwife to a neighbour's cat, sexed kittens and despatched a dying budge recently  4th emergency service, that's me!)

CT: *goes over in bare feet and dressing gown to have a look* Yup, that's dead

N: that's it's eyeball all over the road

CT: yes I can see

N: what should we do?

CT: I'll go and get a carrier bag and scoop it up

N: Ugghhh

CT: well, did you want to do it?

Honestly, she had clothes on, I didn't but I wasn't about to leave it there for the kids to see. BTW I checked it for a collar (none) and it was identified as a stray tom that's always around; I popped it into the vets on the way to work for them to incinerate.

Yup, it's Friday the 13th

The telescopic tube on my vacuum cleaner (pull along type, not upright) has broken today for the 3rd time since we got the vacuum 5 years ago. It has been replaced with a new one each time.

On the plus side, that means I don't have to do any hoovering today.

On the downside, I'll probably have to get a new vacuum cleaner as this is a problem that clearly isn't going to go away.

I don't subscribe to the Friday 13th thingy as a rule.

My YS was born on Friday 13th ... oh - hang on! ...... just kidding.

I did fall head first into the cotoneaster which is in the hen's area today, when trying to catch a recalcitrant chicken. :?

'Appen there is something in it after all.

You are obviously the exception that proves the rule

My day improved, OH rang when he left his morning meeting and said that he wasn't going back to the office and would I like to go for lunch at Brasserie Blanc. Well I thought about it for a nano second put my bread dough that I had just shaped and put into it's tin into the fridge booked a table for 2pm, got changed and went out :D. When we got home bread dough was perfectly risen in the fridge, it did explode a bit when it went into the oven and made an enormous but lopsided loaf.

OH then remembered that the shaft on the dough hook is the same as all the other bowl attachments so he unscrewed it an replaced it with the one from the balloon whisk which we rarely use, so we don't need to buy a new one. He did however struggle to get the broken bit out of the top of the machine, it took quite a while and he eneded up covered in oil, but it seems fine now :D

Going to watch the King's Speech on DVD with a glass of sparkling white now :D

Never been into the Friday the 13th thing at all really. However I've just heard from the hospital that my blood calcium is off the scale. I'm to attend the 'Nuclear Medicine Department' for a scan in 12 days time. It seems that I have Hyperparathyroidism, its supposed to be hereditary?. I just hope its not what I think it is thats causing the calcium level!. Eileen says I worry to much, now I'm really worried.

I'm another one born on 13th (October actually, same day as Eggwina Currie and Mrs Thatcher :) ) and I have never been supersticious - sp?- about 13 tho' magpies are a different matter! There seem to be two explainations for Friday 13th being unlucky - one being thirteen at the last supper - tho' don't know if that was a Friday!!! And the crushing of the Templar order by the King of France on Friday 13th (not sure of the exact date but some time in the 14th century?) Anyone know any more about the origins of' Friday 13th?

Anyway, dropped both boys this am - one school and one nursery - and went to the Boden sale at Kassam in Oxford - not that I needed anything but its only 10 mins away and semed daft not to go and look! Got some pjs for ES and a dress and trousers for me but the place was stripped bare by prospective e-bayers  woman at the till next to me had three bin bags - which she had obviously brought in with her  - FULL of all sorts of stuff which came to nearly £800.00; can't beleive it was all for her :x

Picked up YS then ES usual routine, blah, blah and now I'm heading for a cold glass of white! 8) For those of you who had a bad day - take heart as its nearly over :P Looking forward to meeting everyone going to the Oxford 'do' tomorrow!

My day started too early as I woke up an hour earlier than usually as i had class assembly nerves and needed to be in school early to set up. After that everything went fine . . . . . I'm just tired now so I'm off to bed!

In the tattoo community friday the 13th is a lucky day, you often find studios offering discounts on these days and a lot of people have '13' tattooed on them, it dates back to when tattooing was very much an outside of society thing so a lot of traditions were adopted that were the opposite for everyone else, hence 13 being held as a lucky number.

I had a lovely day, and my incubator and eggs arrived today, and I bought my sons birthday presents ready for Sunday.

My boss and his wife celebrate there wedding anniversary today, if I bother remarying I would love it to be on a friday the 13th!

Oh and a couple of our friends had a baby today! :)
