You don't want to know what my children were consuming at Lesleys on Saturday :vom:

I've given up saying to them 'STOP drinking the water', they never listen, dogs water, bath water, pond water, green water in Lesleys fountain. They just see it as a challenge to drink a bit more when I'm not looking!

I think our boys might get on :D

It all builds up their immunity!

I remember my daughter and her friend eating windfall apples in the garden.

I said that they were dirty and that she shouldn't be eating anything from the garden without rinsing it and she said "It's OK Mum, we washed them in the birdbath before we ate them.":roll:

That's brilliant egluntine, and you can see the logic!

I was lucky enough to see Stefan put something in his mouth from off the garden recently. I went to investigate, and it was a lump of chicken poo. Good job he didn't dunk that in the bird bath first isn't it?

Glad you got there first Gina! Or did you . . . How many has he previously eaten? I think it's time for some education!

I'm sure that all these allergies that are cropping up in this country are down to excessive cleaning and not enough chicken poo!

Did anyone read the stuff in the weekend papers about peanut advise to expectant mums?

Apparently they are currently advising mums not to eat nuts especially peanuts whilst pregnant and breast feeding and not to give nuts to children under 3. However there has been a massive increase in nut allergy since this advise has been in force because children are not building up a gradual tolerance.

Just goes to show that you should use your own common sense when feeding yourself and your baby. When I was expecting DS I ate pounds of walnuts - he hates them! but he is not allergic.

I do however accept that there have always been allergy suffers and you do have to be vigilant when giving new foods. ( oooh I sound like a warning on a food packet!) :D

The new advice being given to mums-to-be, whom they think are at higher risk of having a baby with peanut allergy (me included, as I get horrific hayfever) is that they think that by exposing the baby to small amounts of peanuts in the womb, gradually increasing the amount until they are born, followed by controlled exposure to peanuts once they are beginning to wean, will help to decrease the amount of children with peanut allergies.

It's all a bit of a mine-field really!

Ewwww - I'd not thought of that Ginette. I wondered why he was so tall for his age  Maybe the best education is to let him eat it and realise it's not half as tasty as it looks :vom:

When I fell pregnant with Stefan, the only thing I knew about avoiding was the various cheeses. I ate peanut butter, walnuts, bazil nuts, etc. Stefan has them now too in his porridge. I never even thought about allergy's. Saying that though, if he did have one, I would certainly blame myself for eating them through pregnancy, so you can't win can you?!

My mother ate loads of oranges while expecting me and I have never been able to eat them.

I ate loads of apples with DD2 - and she loves them! 3 a day

So, who knows? Totally unprovable I would think!

I'm glad that my pregnancy days are over, now I just worry about what I feed the children, what they are exposed to, should I let them out on their own di da di da di da.

Worry comes with the territory.

I read a section in a book the other day about the chemicals in paint new furniture etc - yikes! It suggested loads of houseplants to neutralise the effect. Guess what the plants are moving in!

We all grew up ok right! :?
