Where's my eglu?

Recommended Posts

We had our eglu last september and the courier was a day late. Cant remember which courier it was but we waited all day and we WERE NOT best pleased.:evil::evil:

You get over it of course, but all that waiting and anticipation and then its a great big flop when it doesnt arrive.

let us know when yours arrives. :)

Lovely names.

Him Indoors was once sent a crate of wine by a colleague as a thank you from whom he had helped out in an emergency.

His wife had told me it was on its way and so when it didn't arrive we contacted the firm who had used a courier to deliver it.

According to them it had been delivered and signed for by Mrs Him Indoors.

I was flabbergasted and asked to see a photocopy which the duly sent.

It was not my signature but it had Mrs H Indoors misspelt.

I might be losing my marbles but I can still spell my own surname. (which is an uncommon variant of a fairly common irish surname....I spend my life telling people that no I am not called ****&&^%$!)

Turned out that the driver had done this before and had been warned so they sacked him!

He had dumped it in a neighbours garage and forged my signature.

The neighbour was baffled as he was new to the area and didn't know us.

We got a new crate as an apology and finally got the original so......every cloud etc!

On deliveries...

The argos man "took ill "on the way to our house and could not deliver our bed. Whenwe called their bluff and informed them he had passed our house and OH ran down the road after him, they said he was on the way to the hospital-via a very strange detour on some residential only roads :shameonu:

Apparently we couldn't contact the delivery people as they were not trained to talk to customers :silenced:

Give me the Royal Mail any day!

Oh no - they're far from perfect! I recently had to send a 48p SAE to get a job application form, but didn't have a 48p stamp, so used a 50p one.

The form didn't come, and finally I got a note saying that I had some underpaid post in the sorting office to be collected. Of course they're only open very limited hours, and when I did get there to collect it, it was Saturday morning and there was an horrendous queue. I had to pay 6p extra + a £1 fine.

The letter was really light, and as I was going to the Post Office anyway I asked them how much it should cost to send: 48p!! So my original stamp was more than sufficient, I'd got the form 2 days late (which meant I had to submit it after the closing date), I'd paid £1.08p extra for a cr*p service, and spend 45 mins of my time collecting something that I'd paid for to be delivered to my door!

And of course the Post Office people were very nice, but wanted me to spend more time (and money) to write and complain - they couldn't just refund me my money.

I'm still stomping mad!!

Has the eglu come yet?

Kannie, don't get me started on the Post Office!!

I have done a few seed swaps on here and didn't want to post as it seemed ungrateful.

The first lots of seeds I got, were in a padded envelope, so wider than 5mm.

3p underpaid PLUS £1 admin fee!

the second seed swap was 4p underpaid plus £1 fee!

And like you I had to go to the sorting office, open 17 mins a week, and collect the post!!!!!

Our Postie is lovely and said that quite often they let things go, especially children's birthday cards, etc!

They all hate the new system.

Sorry to hijack your thread!

Have you heard anything about you eglu yet?? Too busy watching the girls to post

Is`it me or have we opened up a can of angry worms here...? You would think that with everyone shopping online deliveries would get better. I love the way delivery services still live in some Victorian era where there are servants at home all day to take in packages, quite sweet really.

Me too Shona

I think it was to keep within the guaranteed 28 day delkivery date for mine 8)

I asked them to leave it on the patio they left it on the drive  and it was flat packed and jolly heavy

I cursed and swore all the way through putting it up because 'there were no instruction' and then found the instructions between the final 2 sections :?

I did wonder why DHL were working on a Sunday too

Oooooh - did you get one of the big square ones Louise? We got the £8 one - it's flipping enourmous - twice the size of the one we got from Midlothian council.

They left ours on the drive, so I had to get out and move it before we could get the car in.

Some of these delivery companies ar every annoying aren't they...I won't get started and have very little brains too.

For example, the royal mail, you have a large package waiting for you at the Postal office. Ok, fine-HOWEVER, not fine when you have to go into town to get it, when the postman/lady could have left it in the porch out the way. You even get the impression that the porch door is not locked-the door bell is by the main front door.....

Where's Mel when we need her? Don't be mean about all posties.. Many of them do a sterling job. Our postman is WONDERFUL (And rather dishy  ). His name is Gavin and I always make sure its me who opens the door to him and not OH :lol::lol:

He NEVER charges us when stuff arrives with those bloomin "to Pay" on, he just leaves them. He never rings to deliver parcels at the weekend, as he knows we like a bit of a lie in: He just leaves them on the doorstep. He comes at the same time EVERY day (so I know when to be on the look out for my daily fix), and he is really helpful. He has even helped us herd up stampeding donkeys once.

I guess we are lucky as being on a rural round, we get the same postie every day. I feel so sorry for him, out in all weathers, up at the crack of dawn, hardly ever seeing anybody and never getting any thanks for what he does. Its a spiritless job isn't it? And the pay's not great either. So come on folks, be nice to your postie! :D:D:D

Our postie is wonderful too - a real ray of sunshine :D Our post office is great too. When I go in to pick up a paper, they always get me any post that arrived after the postie left for his round. And if I'm expecting a special delivery, I can call them and collect it anytime after 6.30am if I'm not going to be home for the proper delivery. Lots of gold stars from me :D

Our postman is lovely. He always comments on my Crocs as his OH is a nurse and wears them at work. Has a pair in every colour apparently.

He doesn't charge for under paid mail and he has come back twice with a parcel if I wasn't in the first time to save me the trouble of going to the sorting office.

He is the sort of chap who restores my faith in human nature!
