Egluntyne
Anyone else hooked on this? I have only recently discovered the joys. I stared uncomprehendingly at it for weeks, and then the penny dropped, and I'm away. Am still only on the easy ones, but find it totally absorbing. Anyone got any hints and tips? yvonne
Absolutely obsessed here - started about 6 years ago and now onto the Mensa books. I recommend Wayne Gould books for learning some less obvious techniques (they also never rely on trial and error and always have unique solutions unlike some I have seen). Be warned, your spare time will disappear before your very eyes ! In terms of basic tips, make sure you pencil in ALL possible answers for each position before starting to eliminate anything - sometime if you have a line/row/square with 5 unknowns you will find in can be split into a two and a three (if that makes sense). Over time, you will discover the joy of X-Wings, Swordfish, XY-wings and so on, but they are so compulsive (my excuse is it may fend off alzheimers) Happy puzzling
squiffs
I love doing them on my nintendo DS, but I don't like doing them on paper - I like disparaging noises when I get a number wrong - I don't like waiting for myself to figure out I got it wrong 10 mins later I'm more into crosswords. chicken bark
I spent years doing them and now have to avoid them at all costs as they are so addictive.
The Dogmother
I got obsessed a few years back and had a system which helped to complete them. It was very satisfying but I haven't done one in years. Phil is an addict though.

It certainly exercises the thinking muscle ....more so than crosswords, which Him Indoors always interferes with anyway. Swordfish etc sounds very scary. Mr Rhode Island Red
I'm not addicted, but when I find a nice easy or medium difficulty Sudoku in a newspaper I might have a go at it, I'm actually quite good
Lavenders_Blue
I'm the same, not addicted, but if I buy a paper I will always have a go at the Su Doku (the Times ones are the best IMO) and sometimes buy a Su Doku book to take away on holiday with me. Snowy
Whenever I pick up a paper, the sudoku are always completed OH won't part with the paper until he has done them all, so I have to stick to the crosswords
Space Chick
I have it loaded on my iPhone and iPad. Both OH and I enjoy doing them, we've done them for years. Phil got very addicted to the super sudoku in the Saturday telegraph for a while (12 x 12), cue flip charts on the living room floor they used to take him ALL day... That all ended when we got chooks though My top tip, work in rows as well as in squares, can help with process of elimination
Charlottechicken
I love them! I restrict myself to the ones in the Metro, and any free papers which drop through the letterbox, otherwise I'd be doing nothing else
Olly
My name is Olly and I'm a Sudoku addict Likewise, I only do free ones. Had to delete the iPhone app because I spent too much time on it!
jlo
I got addicted a few years ago but have weaned myself off. I do have a go at the Killer ones occasionally but only the fairly straightforward ones.
bluekarin
I quite like them too, but there has been many an occasion where I have almost got to the end, and discovered somewhere, a number is wrong!

Patricia W
OH is addicted - I am not. I don't do numbers. So very frustrating for the onlooker as the addict (who is meant to be doing " a little job" is found hiding in a corner with said pen and paper! So don't forget to feed the chickens! The Dogmother
I don't do numbers either Patricia, but was overjoyed to find that you don't need to be number literate to enjoy doing them.
