vickichicky
Wow that is good! My neighbours oldest girl is 7 next month & still laying My oldest girl so far was Benni my Ex-Batt who was nearly 5 - so not bad for an Ex-Batt!
malcolm
Most of our hens pop off around 3-5 years. this miss pepperpot just keeps going.Bad tempered old lady towards other hens. Dare not put her with the three new gingers that came yesterday with a Cube. Pleased to say Two are already laying.
Chortle Chook
We have a Miss pepperpot coming up to 8 years old. Still lays 4/5 times a week. I think that is worthy of an Omlet news article or some sort of statement against the Miss Pepperpot Omlet chickens in their shop: 'lives up to 8+ years'
Chickvic
My oldest hens at the moment are about 15 months old, Ruby was my oldest and she was just over 3 and a half when she went to the big coop in the sky.

percy049
Two of our ex-free range hens were just under 3. Ive still got one going, who must be about 3 1/2 now.
Sheilaz
We have a Miss pepperpot coming up to 8 years old. Still lays 4/5 times a week. That's marvellous. All my hens have lived 2-4 years, but Chuckles at 7 years is an Omlet from our original pair, still laying. She looks matronly, and bustles around like a mother hen, telling the others when there is food around.
TutuTallulah
We had a gold spangled hamburg hen who was around 11 years old when she died. She came to me as an adult bird and had been well trodden by a cockerel and had almost no feathers on her back. I had her for 10 years. She was rather mean to most of the others and I never dare introduce new birds so she spent her last few years on her own after she outlived the other hens. When she passed away I said 'that's it - no more' but then I went 'just to look' at some hybrids and the rest, as they say, is history
