snowberry
I want him to build me one It's very similar to the house built by the Coppicer in Grand Designs years ago
Cinnamon
Totally gorgeous, but a few too many places for spiders to lurk for my liking I remember the Grand Designs home too
The Dogmother
I saw that and had a good gander at his website too (typos drove me mad though). We once stayed in a self-sufficient B&B in Wales; they had garden rooms built into the hillside - absolutely lovely and never saw a spider. Plum
A holiday there would appeal to me but wouldn't want the maintenance, I would be so worried about the roof.
Valkyrie
Creepy crawlies wouldn't bother me - bit concerned about rising damp perhaps, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem. Although I have to say that when OH's cousin had her bathroom renovated in her old house they discovered the roof which runs from the bathroom wall to make an extension covering the kitchen consisted of pine branches - with needles and a wall filled with straw and dead squirrel! There are no foundations - just set on giant flagstones. The kitchen also has a well in it previously undiscovered! Love her house I do! She has the deeds that date back a good couple of hundred years - but it's thought it was originally a dwelling for animals that was converted in the 1700's. So bearing all that in mind, I think the Hobbit house would probably be quite safe in comparison!
