The great 2012 declutter!

Recommended Posts

DM - I could take them to the charity shop but some of the things I have started to cut up for various projects so really must focus otherwise I will end up keeping it all  I am such a hoarder. I still have several dresses that I wore in the 80's

I've just ordered 10 embroidered polo shirts for the youth theatre, not all for me btw  Am Stage Manager + for the rest of the crew...

Looked in my wardrobe and have another 11 black tshirts with logo's from all the other shows I've done  Most have Oliver, High School Musical etc on them so can't really wear them for the 2 shows this summer... so this year have just got the theatre logo and our names so can wear again!

I was thrilled at the weekend. I've been sticking unwanted stuff on ebay & decided to sell some dollies. I sold two to someone in Seoul, one of which sold for £155 !!! I knew it was collectable, but not that collectable.

Have ordered an eglu Go with the money I've made.

My chooks come first! :D

I'm having an electrical clearout this weekend. Having just joined the 21st century with a new 40" telly (amazing watching the Olympic swimming in HD  ) I've been gathering up all the old electrical junk cluttering up the house. Two CRT tellies, a dodgy freeview box, old computer keyboard (also upgraded that recently to a wireless one) and an electronic typewriter that I can't give away  The local s"Ooops, word censored!" man will be having them, and stuff that I've persuaded mum to part with too!

I'm still puzzled as to how this stuff just accumulates!

Not a fan of freecycle Clare. Tried it a couple of times but couldn't be bothered with one time waster, it sort of put me off. The s"Ooops, word censored!" man is legit and has a young family so I'd rather he had the money.

I think I'm going to start in the garden this weekend. OH has sort of persuaded me we should have a doggy, so I am prepared to dig up the veg patch to turf over, and use part of the chicken's large run to grow my potatoes in. The shed is in an awful mess, again

I have slipped badly on the decluttering; the 'study', as it's euphemistically called, has become the Room of Doom. I'm going to have to venture in as I need to renew my car insurance and I'll have to find last year's docs. I have found someone who will take my old computer and clean it up though, which is good. Thanks for reminding me of this thread, Charlottechicken - I need to get back on track!

I've just sorted 2 bin bags worth of clothes to go to the charity shop :D

I then went into m&s and found that the colours for autumn/winter are plums and browns (for a change  ) anyway, I came back home and rescued 2 skirts that I had dumped as they are perfect for winter 8) all I had to do was put new elastic in the waist so they fitted me again :D

I've just saved myself about £100 :D:D

Yay me! Lol

Yay Cathy!

Sorting in the garden, shed and kitchen simultaneously at the mo. Looks like we will be getting a doggy sooner rather than later, so need more space. At the mo I have six full bags of garden waste for the collection on Thursday, and if the weather stays nice this week it may be a lot more!

I've had today off because the gas company wanted to come and change my ancient meter, typically they could only give me a day slot rather than a time parameter. As Rosie was grounded fro various reasons, we took the opportunity to clear out her room; after 3 hours of hard graft it's a heck of a lot cleaner and you can actually see the floor. I have stripped her bed (don't know when it was last done :vom: ) and it's all flapping on the line now. Loads to go to the charity shop, tons of rubbish and things found which she'd lost. She's now gone into town as a reward.

Well done, I used to attack DS's room every holiday, it is funny now he has moved out and lives with his girlfriend he is the one doing the tidying :D

If I am feeling brave later I am going to attack the under stairs cupboard, it goes a fair way back and I used to fit the hoover in but not anymore :D

Hello, everyone.

We've had a combination of relations visiting (a once in a blue moon occurrence) with prospect of a new garage door fitted, so we've had a bit of a clear out over the last month.

From the garage, we've washed and rehoused to RSPCA three large plastic storage tubs with lids, three complete Rotastack hamster houses of varying styles plus box of spare parts; a three tier storage stacking system (like old fashioned deep vegetable trays?); matching set of glass jug, tumblers and dessert bowls and a tea/coffee set. We have given old four metre Classic run to my neighbours, for their rabbits (they are lovely and it was just sitting there whilst their rabbits only had a very small run and hutch). They have also had two large old wooden raised vegetable beds and a tall glass and chrome display unit.

Indoors, YD has cleared out bedroom and given away all her school blouses (just sat GCSES and off to College), two set squares and three - yes, three! - bracelets ... it's a start; at least the room is tidy - especially now she has picked everything up from the floor and shoved it in the laundry basket ...

Spare blue office chair that was blocking up landing off to a neighbour at the weekend. OH has sorted out his papers in the box room, scanned, shredded or filed them as appropriate - it was a huge pile, on chairs and floor, but at least you can get in the room now and breathe out

In the garden I've de-cluttered the greenhouse of broken pots and dead plants and acquired a frog, which is a good swap. I emptied two 220l compost bins into plastic bags for my other neighbours, who have an allotment (and given them one of the compost bins). I also had someone come and de-clutter the flower beds one day - if the plant didn't have a red string on it, he could dig it up. I'd never have been so ruthless on my own and it does look so much clearer now.

Just need to sort out the other end of the garage, with all the bits of DIY rubbish we will never be able to use again ... all the usual bits of DIY rubbish but what is it with buying sealant - how many tubes of dried sealant does the average garage contain? Feeling knackered but very pleased with what has been de-cluttered so far.

Even better, our relations have been gone for four days and we are still tidy!

Great news 8)

I have a day off today, Rosie is working until 11am and then we're going to bake and while it's cooking we will tidy up. Her room is still relatively tidy after the blitz last week although she needs to go through her piles of books :D I need to do some filing and will make another inroad in the attic so that I can photographs and list some more items on ebay.

Another sack for the charity shop is nearly full.

I'm on here for inspiration.......over this summer I must have worn approx. 10% of the clothes I have.......only a small percentage are clothes in a smaller size which I keep thinking I might wear if I lose weight....I won't!

I need to be ruthless.........I might invite my sister, my daughter and grnad-daughter over in October as they will be able to stop me taking things back out of the charity bags
