Must admit I'm really chuffed with the way they look as a pair . I wouldn't have known the first thing about a Black Araucana but Redwing obviously knows her stuff so has really chosen well for me .

 

I've now got 6 - Poppy is the last of my second batch, Steph, Jess and Beth and now these two.

Gorgeous Girls, my favourite-ever chicken was a White Star. She was really friendly (which surprised me as they are meant to be flighty and aloof).

I did have a reputation for making things out of bits and pieces when the kids were young - my best work was a house made out of a massive cardboard box which was painted yellow with windows, a door, a skylight and curtains .

How are the new girls today

Sadly I haven't seen much of them - I leave for work when it's dark so have only just let them out and it's dusk when I get back. Off now till Monday so hope to get to know them better .

 

I thought they hadn't laid yesterday but found a little clutch of 3 eggs (ES hadn't noticed them when he collected one white one today ). Still tiny but very cute .

 

Downside of their run location, right under the kitchen window, is that I can't see them from the house like I can the other girls .

Good that you will be able to spend the rest of the week getting to know them better How long do you think it will take until you can move them to your WIR? Do you have a timetable? I am keeping mine apart until the weekend then plan to have the older two free ranging round the eglu and run with the newbies still inside. The new girls have been out in another part of the garden and as they can spy each other there has been some shouting from both parties

My dopey old girls haven't even twigged they're there . I'm in no hurry, tbh, it's nice and easy to look after them in their Omlet run, especially while the weather's horrible. If it takes weeks or even months, I'm not bothered .

 

I may let the old girls out into the main garden at the weekend and see if they spot the newbies .

I,m glad you said your old girls haven't noticed as my old girls also are paying no attention at all to the two new girls even though they can see each other. Perhaps they think if they don't look they aren't really there!

Great to hear your taking things slowly I took many months to fully integrate all my lot. Much less arguing that way Have to say I'm very of all these eggs. Not getting a single one myself Alli x
