Ain't Nobody Here

New chickens - they're here!

Very creative indeed!!

Question: how have you attached the white thing at the back where the eglu would usually be? I have a spare run and I think that set up would be great for temp home for a broody but I'm curious how you've secured the back.

It's a picnic table we used to take camping  . You can't see them, but I used 2 industrial sized cable ties to fix the legs at the bottom to the bottom of the run and you can just see 2 small white ties securing the top. The planters are extra security to keep it in place. The run needed to be squashed in a bit so there weren't gaps (bricks there too just in case!)

Aha!!! Yes, I can see the ties on the top and your description makes perfect sense to me - thank you very much for explaining that; very innovative!

Lulu (White Star) and Layla (Araucana) are here  . They are both lovely and seem to be settling in fine. I even have two eggs, one laid in transit with Redwing, the other (a first for Lulu, I think!) in the car on the way home 8) .

The old girls don't seem to have noticed them yet  .

Had a really interesting time at the Show. Thanks to Redwing for showing me around and explaining what it was all about. There were some amazing chickens there - it was great to seem them for real, rather than just in photos.

They are lovely :D:D they look like they are settling into their new home already. Are they both hybrids?

Lulu looks very much like my Daisy and Marshmallow who are Snowbells (hybrids) they are not very friendly but lay lovely large white eggs larger than my others chooks even though they are the smallest (but not this winter :( ) .

Glad you had a good time at the show, I think I need to find a local show so that I can see the different chickens rather than just looking in books.

Enjoy your new girls.

Chrissie

Go to one if you can. I really enjoyed seeing all the chickens. I could have bought a lot more  I totally fell in love with a huge Bramha. Wholly impractical for me...oh to have more space
