The Dogmother
I only really get into the festive spirit nearer the time as we're usually very busy at work so there's no time to think about it This year I have managed to get a couple of days off before Christmas - a first in the 10 years I've been working here It's a bone of contention; another member of staff who doesn't have children/family always block-books Christmas off a year ahead without checking whether I'd like some time to prepare, especially as I have 10 people for Christmas day this time I got my own back... I noticed that she'd not yet booked it, so I got mine in at the end of November last year. at least this time around I'll be less panicked. I usually end up going to Aldi. the orange truffle one is only in tesco at the moment and is on at £15 (£5 off), i will pop on here during what i call 'baileys watch' and spread the word when i see the cheapest prices. i predict november, for one weekend, it will go down to £9 (which is what happened last year and i blummin missed it!). abwsco
Oooh, it does seem to be far too early for me to be thinking about Christmas but I did say to DH yesterday that I'd seen a golf bag I'd have as my present lols Oh, and as I didn't renew my Ocado delivery pass I'm going to have to wait until December to book my slot. Now that does have me panicing
Yorkshire Pudding
Bought one of those huge tins of sweeties that we only ever have at Christmas yesterday - only a fiver at the co-op- and we have the list of what we are buying for which son (and I have another for OH). So it's creeping up on me here too. Normally I would be looking at our groaning fruit trees and planning preserves to make for presents but with the awful weather this year, I have only one quince on the tree and nothing on any other. Relying on rhubarb and foraged blackberries so I have blackberry whisky steeping and am thinking about rhubarb and Ginger jam. No quince paste or quince jelly or quince brandy this year
lizinsa
I was to see Christmas stuff in the shops yesterday but then I remembered my Mum bought me an advent calendar in August Even though I'm adult she loves the countdown and because she doesn't like ones with chocolate in, she will buy one when she sees it because they are so rare! Oooh Christian, what have you been making, I love you Christmas goodies, I always wished I lived closer to one of your Christmas fairs! Space Chick
I've been looking for the orange truffle baileys and can't find it Will go to the HUGE tesco later then, I need to go to the enterprise park it's on anyway. I've bought a few presents for my nephew, but that's it. OH and I are going away for a long weekend in November, so we are making that our early Christmas present to ourselves
craftyhunnypie
I have a nephew & a niece to buy for this year... 3 & almost 1. Why are toys, even little ones so expensive? Going to start buying tubes of smarties, buttons, books & things as I see them on offer. It's always mum & dads prezzie that causes me the most hassle. Both hard to buy for. Hayleybug
sorry to rub it in if you havent found any but i just wanted to report back after sampling the orange truffle baileys- it is LOVELY and tastes like a mixture of grand marnier and baileys, or a sort of alcoholic terrys choc orange but without the full choccy part. hard to describe but if you like baileys normally you are bound to love it! mine will never last until xmas!
