Egluntyne
No it's not the latest gastropub (geddit?) to open in Sheffield. This is what I nearly touched first thing this morning! Little blighter!! He got the salt treatment.

Kathy C
Are they delivering hen food now? (I did suggest it when I joined our milk round. After all I get my wild bird feed from the milkman)
Cinnamon
OMG ,what a horror! My worst slug experience was treading on one barefoot first thing in the morning a couple of years ago. It was one of those big grey ones with the orange frilly underneath bit, & it still sends shivers down my spine thinking about it *shudder, shudder*

Snowy
OH keeps telling me that he finds them on our bottles in the morning, but I've never seen one yet They must know when it's my day to bring the milk in - they would get fed to the chooks if I caught them! chocchick
Hope your chooks don't always expect this sort of delivery from the milkie I'm still shuddering from the barefoot bit I once touched a slug that had crawled just inside the opening of the glug I could see something and tried to brush it off. I fed a huge one to the chickens and they ran over, examined it and walked off in distain.
chelsea
Oh, your stories have just reminded me of something. When I was sixteen (Ahhh, to be 16 again eh?.... ) well, anyway when I was 16 and on my way to my VERY 1st day of work after leaving school I accidently stood on a big fat slug on the way to catch the bus, I had no choice but to turn up to my new employer with slug guts on my skirt..... ubereglu
I went around my garden last night and collected up as many slugs as possible in a food bag. There were loads and the bag was really heavy. It was a nasty job, but it means my plants will survive.
Jules.
did you feed them to your chooks?
Egluntyne
This is a really poor picture, but the two blobs are the tiniest snails imaginable having a race to the top of one of the milk bottles left this am. What is it that is soo attractive about milk bottles? Can't seem to flip it.
Snowy
I had a note from the milkman this morning saying that he couldn't read the note that I'd left out for him because the snails had eaten it!
Egluntyne
I've just taken Lesleys tip and cut a slug in half with a pair of scissors. It was absolutely hideous....gallons of black yukky stuff oozed out. It was like an episode of Star Trek. :vom: I feel quite queasy! I think I prefer the salt (and resulting slime) method! mountainboarddude
i went down to see the girls a few minutes ago and there was a slug in their run, i tried to get them to eat it but they weren't interested, so i decided to kick it out of the run. it got caught in the weldmesh and when i kicked it again it popped open and all of it's guts came out , the girls ran for it and pulled out long strings of yucky slug . maybe now they have been converted
theherd123
Just wondered if slugs have suicidal tendencies? I found a very large one in the girls food this morning!

xChicken04x
i heard that slugs are like worms, if you cut them in half they still survive and grow back
